The Boston Tea Party happened as a result of “Taxation without representation”, but the cause is more complex than that. The American colonist believed they were treated unfairly by the British. Colonist believed parliament did not have the right to tax them because the American colonist were not being represented in the parliament. The Boston Tea Party was organized and carried out by a group of Patriots led by Samuel Adams called “The Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty was made of males from all occupation. Famous Boston Patriots who were members of the Sons of Liberty, including John Adams, john hancock, Paul Rivera. The colonist didn't wanted the tea to arrive, thinking that it would affect American profits. The sons of liberty tried stopping the tea by dressing as Native Americans, run to the ships in Boston Harbor, and they dropped 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor. For weeks after the Boston Tea Party, Boston Harbor smelled as a result of 92,000 pounds of tea dumped into the Harbor. As a result of the Tea Party the British took action, the British shut down the Boston Harbor until all of that 342 chest of British East India company tea were paid for. This was under the Intolerable Acts of 1774. The Intolerable Acts, was passed by the British parliament in 1774 as a punishment of the destruction during the Boston Tea Party. American colonist responded with the “First Continental Congress” in september and october in 1774 to petition Britain repeal the Intolerable Acts. The Boston Tea Party is an important part of the American history. The Boston Tea Party was an early led to the American Revolution. This was the first colonial protest against Britain. It was the resulting war that ultimately gave us all that freedom that we are living with
