The primary purpose of various healthcare organizations’ balanced scorecard is to achieve the long-term adaptation and survival of its processes. Consequently, the balanced scorecard that is adopted by the healthcare organizations focuses on achieving their mission, program service improvement, strategic management, and quality management. Besides, studies indicate that the health sector adopts the balanced scorecard to focus on achievement of the system mission, improve the services and programs, for public accountability reasons, and to address the societal concerns and needs. Further, the audiences that are addressed in the balanced scorecard for healthcare organizations are the managers, clinicians, organizational personnel, the board and external audiences like the public, donors and third-party payers, and any other staff who can influence or effect change. Importantly, it was important noting that the method used to develop and produce a balanced scorecard for any particular healthcare organization is …show more content…
Notably, the balanced scorecard ensures that the healthcare organizations evaluate their ability and readiness to implement the strategic plan that can guarantee smooth internal and external practices expected of an organization. Also, the concept provides that the management studies the validity of the processes, sensitivity of any proposed change, and conducts a benchmark of the data applicable to the healthcare sector. Otherwise, the possible challenges to using the balanced scorecard in the health sector are the cooperation of all senior management team to work together and build or support the implementation of the balanced scorecard such as the measures, targets, and objectives. Overall, a balanced scorecard is useful, as a concept and tool for the performance measurement in the healthcare
