Essay On Aphorism
There are no limits on what you can do in life! The aphorism by Jim Carrey, “My soul is not contained within the limits of my body; my body is contained within the limitlessness of my soul”, helps me remember it every day. I portray “my soul” as my ideas, dreams, and goals. An aphorism is a wise saying or quote that contains words of truth, lasting meaning, or inspiration. The aphorism inspires people to do big things in life. It also reminds young readers to exploit their creativity while they still have an abundance of it. Before I adopted the aphorism into my life, I did not like to task risks and go the extra mile while doing my work. As I progressed in school, I learned you have to do more than just the work assigned in order to fully understand and succeed in a certain area. Now that some of us are currently young we have many dreams we …show more content…
As the aphorism states “my body is contained within the limitlessness of my soul”, you need to have courage to stand up for your ideas and to not let others criticism knock you down or stop you from pursuing your dream. Be generous to those who have the same goal as yourself or support you. Everyone just wants a piece of the success cake. Having perseverance helps tremendously. When someone knocks you down or calls your dream foolish, prove them wrong and come back stronger! You must always be humble to your roots/origin; it may be inspiring to others on how you overcame tough situations.
In conclusion, the aphorism by Jim Carrey is excellent. It will help anyone who wants to succeed in life. It encourages people to get out of their shells and try something new. It also encourages thinking outside the box and not letting the opinion of others affect oneself. In the aphorism it states that your soul is not contained with the limits of your body, but your body is contained within the limitlessness of your soul. If you have something tragic happen to you, you can overcome

Therefore, this hackneyed statement devalues beneficial statements like the motto used by the Traveling Symphony, “Survival is Insufficient.” The versatility of this quote is abounding. In all facets of life, this quote can be applied. According to this statement, the stagnancy of life should not be endured, it should be used as motivation to project the best possible versions of ourselves. Whatever we may find ourselves partaking in, this quote reminds us to find the courage within ourselves to contribute to something in the best conceivable way. This quote also stresses the importance of finding your personal calling. Whether it be a ditch digger or leading a Fortune 500 company, this quote empowers everyone to make the most of themselves. In the age of tolerance, we find ourselves suppressing our true feelings and desires. The insufficiency of this existence is not what we were made to do. We are supposed to trail blaze new paths and constantly reinvigorate ourselves to make our university, our town, our state, our nation, our world the best it can possibly…

You must have the strong will to “want” to accomplish whatever goal you set for yourself. For example, when I was playing the game of chicken and always lost in the beginning, this would be the obstacle that stood in front of me, but I overcame this by not saving any strokes to get back. I remember a time when I was saying, “You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton: I never saved anything for the swim back.” Another example of how I overcame my obstacles is obvious. My biggest obstacle that I faced was when the company Gattaca only allowed “pure breeds,” if you will, to be co-workers and be able to go up to space, which was my dream. I surpassed that rule by impersonating my good friend Jerome. A quote he said to me once was, “I got the better end of the deal. I only lent you my body - you lent me your dream.” Jerome was immobilized from waist down when he was hit by the bus, which let me impersonate him and fulfilling my dreams of going to space. All my hard work is finally paying off. My big goal that I have been longing to achieve is in sight. Not many people get to live my dream, but it took a lot of planning and thought for me to sneak my way into Gattaca. My next point will be my final thought about human…

This quote can be applied to many different circumstances in your life. This is why I believe it stands out so much to me. When I first read this quote I thought about football, but then I started thinking about it in a more broad perspective. If you apply it to your job, family, sports, etcetera, it all comes back to what the quote clearly states, no matter what the situation you always have a chance to succeed. Even when you think you've hit rock bottom, if you work to better yourself and your circumstances then you have succeeded. I also see it as when others think you've failed, you can truly judge yourself on how you respond. I always judged success on winning or…

At the time of this aphorism’s composition, Morrie was more optimistic than ever, despite his affliction with ALS slowly crippling him. Morrie used his condition of being close to death to formulate small philosophies of life, this aphorism was one of them. I selected this aphorism because it illustrates how although most people emit an aura of normalcy around them, they struggle with their personal internal conflicts, battling with themselves wondering why they made this or that choice or all the opportunities they missed. The hourglass demonstrates acceptance and consideration of the past, with its falling sands…

During this time, our class had a film showing about John P. Foppe, a man born without arms yet he still succeeded in his life and overcomed his fears. With this movie, I was moved by a line of what John P. Foppe had said in the movie “making the best of what you have, when you don't have the best of everything” with this line, I said to myself again “if John P. Foppe can do all those things without his arms, how about me? when I have a complete set of arms and yet I wouldn't use the full potential out of it”. God has given us all the things in life that is really essential to us human beings, with this things it really more than enough, so we must do our part to make the best out of it for the greater glory of…

“What one man can do another man can do” is a famous quote spoken by Sir Anthony Hopkins in the movie The Edge. This line has always fascinated, inspired, and motivated me to continue forward in moments of adversity. Fortunately, there are many people whose lives are an example of what can be accomplished. Although that list may be long, three stand out to me: Pablo Popovitch, submission wrestling world champion and my teacher, Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Mr. Olympia, Hollywood leading man and current Governor of California, and His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, The Head of Tibetan Buddhism.…
