She later on explained the writing issues that all of the students were doing, that consisted of capitalizing the first letter of a sentence and forgetting to add a period after a sentence. Over the course of this course I have learned many different things about the human lifespan development. I chose to do my informal interview with a BA (Behavior Analysis) about the challenging behaviors of school aged children. This paper will also go into literature that I read along with the interviewing process that took place to get a better insight on what kind of behaviors maybe seen, causes and effects, along with different options on how to prevent or reduce the undesired behaviors. I will go over the types of questions that were raised in the interview and the synopsis of the entire interview in whole. I never realized until getting more in-depth with human lifespan the varying reasons why some undesired behaviors happen. I have worked in the mental field before and am currently working with adult mentally disabled individuals, but never realized the different reasoning’s and how much prenatal care actually impacts a person. Learning many things along the way have helped me better understand not only behaviors that are seen at my job but I am not a better equip parent following this course. For the most part parents just want to give into children’s behaviors and not really look into how or why the behaviors are occurring. Environments are really never taken into consideration some parents point out other individuals but never look at the whole picture in one. I hope that this could maybe even help others who may read this take a second look or even get another opinion on why undesired behaviors of their own children may occur.…

I replied that I was uncomfortable with the approach because Matthew adores his teacher and it was not my intention to ruin the relationship over homework which he has always found difficult. I decided to speak to Matthew's teacher, Mr. Washerman, after the meeting while waiting to pick up the children from school. I explained that I was an instructional assistant who worked with children who had behavior difficulties and had found some successful strategies for doing less than desirable work. He agreed that I can modify homework as I see fit as long as Matthew is practicing his vocabulary and math. I must admit it was a pleasure meeting him and I am great full for his understanding. However, I found Mrs. Plack's aforementioned conduct during this meeting out of line and her lack of preparedness a bad reflection on the special education department within Marlbrough elementary school. Consequently, this is not how I wished to start the 2016-2017 school year, but I feel if not addressed immediately that this conduct would continue throughout the school year. Ultimately I believe this would lead to Matthew's education becoming negatively impacted due to the unscrupulous behavior and lack of professionalism displayed in this…

Both teachers stated that Matt’s academic strengths are in math and reading fluency, meaning reading material within his reading groups. They also stated that Matt loves anything related to skateboarding and likes to be accepted by peers, which is why he is so sociable. The teachers generated a summary stating that, When Matt is in a group setting with peers and is expected to transition or is given independent work, he talks out and is off task, which appears to be maintained by attention, particularly from peers. Even though the behaviors occur throughout the day, the teachers noted that the outbreaks in talking and off tasks behaviors occur more frequently and for longer periods of time after Matt has taken part in activities that are stimulating such as recess and towards the end of a longer instructional period. The general education teacher also stated that she has tried to place Matt in an area of the room where he would not be so distracted. She has even given him a seat ball to sit on to distract him from moving so much. In addiction, both teachers have created a point chart, which is sent back home to Matt’s mother. It is noted that Matt often forgets to bring home his point chart for his mother to…

In an article written by Diane Dew, titled The Trouble Teens Face, It was stated that in recent years the media has been flooded with articles about the problems teens face. These problems range from drugs and violence, to pregnancy and abortion. I want discuss abortion because it is such an important issue for my generation. Since the 19th century English common law forbade abortion. Abortion prior to quickening was a misdemeanor and then a felony. In 1967 the first two states to make abortion legal was Colorado and California. By June 1970 New York passed its first abortion on demand law with a 24 week limit. It was the 16th state to allow abortion when the other states were still very restrictive. They only allowed abortions for pregnancies involving rape, incest, life of the mother or fetal handicap.…

Communication between the teacher and the parent is a crucial aspect of a child’s education. It is also important that the communication between the parent and teacher is frequent and appropriate. After reading an excerpt from a teacher’s Back-to-School Night speech, I have found aspects where the teacher demonstrated some sensitivity to the parent. The teacher demonstrated sensitivity when she utilized translators, with the distribution of a disclosure statement, and by having a late day for parent conferences.…
