Esau's Sons Chapter 22 Analysis
It seems a little strange to include all of Esau's sons' names when I didn't manage to name Jacob's sons in the last chapter. Esau's sons get the whole chapter to describe themselves. Joseph was his father’s favorite son. He could interpret dreams. Joseph’s brothers were jealous of him. They didn’t like Joseph and that’s why they sold him to Egypt. Sold their own small brother to another person only because father liked him the most, is insane. Well, which type of human are they? Judah’s sons died, he slept with his daughter in law and they had twins. Wow, God is awesome, isn’t he? I just want to say that what the hell was that, and what he was trying to show to us. Joseph started to show his dream interpretation magic and by that magic, Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all Egypt. Joseph's brothers went to Egypt. Joseph invited them to his house and gave them a feast. Maybe now, his brother understand what is the word brother means. Chapter 45 is one of my favorite chapter so far. Joseph told his brothers who he was. He told them, "God sent me here." Why does god like to make thing complex? He could have made Joseph in charge of Egypt in a simple way, but he did not. And now Israel and all his family came to Egypt and Pharaoh allowed Joseph's family to settle in Goshen and it was the nice gesture from Pharaoh by the way. Jacob was ill, he gathered his sons and blessed each of them which was needed. Not only Jacob loved Joseph but also Joseph loved his father most. After his fathers’ death, Joseph threw himself on his father and wept over him and kissed him. Joseph fulfills all his fathers’ desire like an ideal son. Joseph reassures his brothers that no matter his father dead or alive, they will be treated in a good way. Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many

    Genesis 25 is primarily written in prose, but God’s words to Rebekah in poetic form about her pregnancy emphasize the importance of what He is saying to her and the fate of her sons. The poem reads, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples born of you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the elder shall serve the younger” (Gen. 25:23). God has foretold that the two brothers will have numerous descendants that are able to form two nations, but he does not explain why they will be in conflict. As is common in the Bible, the younger son achieves superiority over his elder brother. There is an odd choice of words in this poem though. By saying that Esau will “serve” Jacob it implies that he will forever be in his shadow, however they are separated for many years and Esau was never submissive toward Jacob. Nonetheless, God’s words to her about her sons could explain why Rebekah favored Jacob and why she helped him deceive Isaac.
