Moreover, an effective teacher is a teacher who is well organized, teaches with clarity, is positive, models respect and most importantly “is a leader who can inspire and influences his or her students.” (Sandy, 2004, para. 3.). The qualities that made Mrs. Gruwell superior are those characteristics found in an effective teacher.
Certainly, Mrs. Gruwell students did not make it easy for her at first but never the less Mrs. Gruwell never gave up on her students. I would have to say that the person I most admire would be Jennifer Allee. If I was ever given the opportunity to have her job at KU, I would take it in a heart beat. Jen is a very blunt person and has no problem telling you how things are going to be, she is rarely ever questioned. She is well respected through out the athletic department and very good at what she does. In our weekly meetings I am always impressed with her knowledge and the great ideas she has for this department. Jen is very professional but you will also hear her joking with others in the office. I feel that if she were to ever leave KU, it would be hard to find some one as great as she is to take her spot. I feel that, at times, I can be a very blunt…

I look down at the piece of paper that is motionless of my desk. I gulp hard and study it. Not the words on the paper, but the whole thing itself. I analyze its every move, thinking it will make one. Then I give up and lose my guard as the teacher tells us that this paper is really one of Shakespeare’s poems. It lay on my desk mocking me. I read it trying to comprehend the words being said to me. They seemed meaningless and old. Words we don’t use anymore. Could there really be more than to this than what a guy, who lived years ago, wrote down? I believe there could be. I have heard two sides to the story, people who love him and value his work, and people who can’t understand him and think it's not from this time so it doesn’t apply anymore. Both have something in common, whether or not they were taught about him. I mean someone who…

I observed Mrs. Collier’s first grade class at J.B. Hunt elementary on Thursday September 13, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated nicely. She had bright posters hanging on the wall as well as many colorful boxes, curtains, and chairs around the room. The desks were set up in one giant “U” with Mrs. Collier sitting in the middle. It was a great set up for the kids because they could easily see her and she could easily see them. The dynamics in the classroom seemed great because she connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. The students behavior seemed very respectful towards her and they listened when she asked them to do something. Mrs. Collier’s equity between her and her students was…
