What cultural, economic, and/or political influences throughout their lifetimes have led Boomers to promote environmental sustainability? The elderly population encourages younger generations (Generation Zero) to vote and state the importance of voting as well as the void actions if they don't. Older people have the patience to listen as well as be heard. Older people encourage and state that there is no reason not to vote, even from one whom is bed bound. The elderly population vote on issues that affect them such as Social Security, Medicare and home health care. The main point according Martin P. Wattenberg in Is Voting For Young People is that young people today do not vote during elections as much compared to other voting groups. Young people today are politically unengaged. “These state patterns of voting participation can be confirmed on the national level by the Census Bureau’s 2010 survey data. Among U.S. citizens under the age of 30 in 2010, only 24 percent reported that they voted.” (Page-188, IVYP) The low attendance of young people voting in Presidential elections indicates that young people do not care enough about politics to participate. According to Wattenberg, there is only one method to make young people care about voting. Wattenberg believes that Compulsory Voting is the only method to obtain votes from young people.…

Pros Cons • Gives the customer more options for their cars-and the products get exactly what they want • More expensive - anything that is customized to the extent that VW offers, is going to be more $ • Competitive Advantage over the market • First to offer the customization • Takes longer for customers to receive the product - waiting on the car to be manufactured to customers requests and then shipping • other companies mass produce cars ship them and then customize—takes less time • Customer can price the car based on accessories they want • Customer cannot test drive the car before paying for it they just have to see the computerized look • Customer feels more ownership because they designed their own car…

Jane Goodall once stated, along these lines, that each person makes a difference but it’s up to that person what type of difference they want to make. Young people these days are put into the category that they cannot make a difference, they are belittled and made out to be careless. In turn these young people start to believe that they can’t make a difference therefore they don’t bother trying. This affect is seen in youth in their involvement in politics, the voting rate in Canada for youth voters has been declining for years according to Elections Canada , young adults therefore don’t appear all that interested in politics.…

Ever since this country was established citizens have fought for a right that often is not exercised by today’s youth; along with many others. This right that I speak of is the right to vote. In the beginning one had to be a white male landowner in order to receive this right. However through the years and many trying battles all citizens of the US that are 18 years and older have earned this right. Voting is something that many of us take for granted and do not realize the great importance of this right and our duty to do so. Your votes do effect not only the national elections but every election you choose to cast a vote in; such as school elections, along with the people that represent us at the local and state levels. These representatives are the people making decisions that affect the community in which we live in; rather it is schools, roads or zoning ordinances. Other elections focus on the taxes we pay and how this tax revenue is being spent; whether it is for schools, or safety concerns, such as police and fire protection. Your vote also helps to decide issues concerning the quality of life in our communities, such as a new park or library and public transportation issues.…

Social norms is another factor affecting the electorate. Typically, the senior citizens are more likely to be longtime residents of their communities. They thus may be influenced by friends of the same age who are also voting. Normally, with the older citizens, there is a norm to vote. They usually think of themselves as voters, and they care about being a…

Voting is a very important part to America. If we did not vote we wouldn't have any presidents. Voting is also a way to express what you believe. Less than 50 percent of eligible young voters ages 18 to 29 voted. 19% of all votes came from young voters. And not all elections are decided by hundreds and thousands of votes, the Alaskan congressional race was decided by a single…

Voting is undeniably one of the most central civic opportunities that have been given to citizens of the United States of America. The importance of voting cannot be stressed enough as it is the cornerstone of democracy in the country. In the past, almost three decades, the people inclined to vote have been unduly of older age, higher income and more partisan in their welfares and interests. The gap between older voters and younger voters has always been large with more youth disinclined to voting and participating in any political activities. However, recently the gap has been narrowing; the 2008 and 2012 elections are something to go by. These two elections stimulated…

There are things in the world that can be changed, and just because you aren’t of voting age doesn’t mean you can’t change them. King Tut became the Pharaoh of Egypt at the ripe old age of nine years old. My point being, he probably wasn’t very prepared or as prepared as he may have been if he waited until her were thirty, but he still did it. You see more often than not politics, or the world for that matter, doesn’t wait for you to change but, for you to change it. If you want to make a difference you don’t have to wait you can get involved, and here’s how:…

The Sustainability Lab introduced what defines sustainability and how important it is in any environment through the simulation of a fictional island environment. It showcased what steps and requirements are needed to maintain an environment without it plunging into deterioration, plagued with barely a few to none resources to unlimited desires. Subsequently, both the data table and the graph display a direct correlation between the number of people in the island environment and the number of water, land, and energy resource usage. As the number of people increase in the population, the number of water, land, and energy resource usage increases. There were several observations during each Generation that provide insight into the inner workings…

Voting is privilege given to Americans. Many people don’t know how lucky they are to have the privilege to give their opinion on who leads our country. It took many years for the U.S to get voting rights equalized for all citizens; so everyone should take advantage of this. Participating in voting should be happening by every eligible person in the U.S. A person’s characteristics will effect whether or not they are going to participate in voting. It can either positively affect the person or negatively. Also registering and knowing where and how to register and where too actually vote can effect whether or not a person will participate in voting. A major aspect effecting voting is a person’s family history; if growing up in a family where your family isn’t participating in voting than most likely that young person will not feel the need/responsibility to vote when eligible. A person age can effect whether people will vote or not, usually the younger generation does not participate in voting. Also if people aren’t educated on how to register or even on what they’re voting on – tend not o bother on figuring out how too. The importance of voting is of interest to me because it directly affects me. Voting affects everyone and knowing how we got to where we are in regards to voting is interesting. Voting is so important for many reasons and I think it will be interesting to also find out by surveying young people how many of them actually vote and why or why they don’t participate in voting.…

In todays world, about 48% of people vote. Most of those voters are around the age of 60. I find it sad that young adults aren't very excited about being able to exercise their civic right. In his book, An Economic Theory of Democracy, Anthony Downs writes about the pros and cons of voting. The pros simply being that if you canadite wins then they get to put into action all the plans he/she had which compeled you to vote for them. The cons being that we would have to resaruch the canadates to see which one believes the same thing you believe, we would have to drive to the place were you vote, if it is raining or cold outside you would have to bundal up. So the reason americans don't vote is simply because we are lazy.…
