Environmental Pollution and Making a Difference
Environment is inseparable part of our life. We are depended on it and we have to adjust to survive on Earth. But do people pay enough attention to keep it in a good condition? Are we conscious how huge role it plays in our lives? One of the greatest problems that the world is facing today is that of environmental pollution, increasing with every passing year and causing grave and irreparable damage to the earth. Environmental pollution consists of five basic types of pollution, namely, air, water, soil, noise and light. Air pollution is by far the most harmful form of pollution in our environment. Air pollution is cause by the injurious smoke emitted by cars, buses, trucks, trains, and factories, namely sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. Water pollution caused industrial waste products released into lakes, rivers, and other water bodies, has made marine life no longer hospitable. Humans pollute water with large-scale disposal of garbage, flowers, ashes, and other household waste. Noise pollution include aircraft noise, noise of cars, buses, and trucks, vehicle horns, loudspeakers, and industry noise, as well as high-intensity sonar effects which are extremely harmful for the environment. Soil pollution, which can also be called soil contamination, is a result of acid rain, polluted water, fertilizers etc., which leads to bad crops. Light Pollution includes light trespass, over-illumination, and astronomical interference.
But how can we improve our Earth? A lot of people may say that we cannot do anything. That is not true. We can make a difference; we have to save our planet! What is more, it is our duty. “One person alone cannot save the planet’s biodiversity, but each individual’s effort to encourage nature’s wealth must not be underestimated.”
By becoming aware and doing the right action, we choose to be part of the solution. What comes to mind now to serve as reminders include the following?
1. Adopt the 3Rs of solid waste management: reduce, reuse and recycle. to reduce all the type of pollution. Use electrical cars example hybrid cars to reduce air pollution. Throw rubbish in a proper place example in rubbish bin, to reduce land pollution, water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, and the spread of diseases like influenza A H1N1.
2) Plant more trees
3) Use cloth bag and do not burn plastic. Therefore protecting environment and staying in touch with nature makes life more valuable and lets to live in complete happiness.

The first major cause of air pollution is car exhausts which lead to about 45 to 50 % of the total air pollution. It is produced by unburned fuel in the form of oxides of Nitrogen and hydrocarbons. One of the hydrocarbons produced is Carbon monoxide which is one of the most dangerous gases resulting in many health problems sometimes even death. Another cause of air pollution is Nitrogen oxides. Nitrogen oxide is one of the harmful gases, it is produced into the atmosphere by burning of fuel. Nitrogen oxide is very dangerous when combined with rain; it forms Nitrogen trioxide which is acid rain. When acidic rains pour on soil, it increases its acidity causing the damage of crops and makes it almost impossible to replant, plants that rely on rain water to live and grow are endangered…

As a human, we have more of an impact on this present generation than many of us realize. We have evolved over time and have changed a great deal. In the recent decades, our demands on the resources that our economy has to offer have become overwhelming. Our population has grown exponentially, but its level doesn’t necessarily fulfill what we should give the environment in return.Nature is life. It has always given our essential needs without expecting anything in return. It impliedly takes its responsibility as a benefactor and provides what we ask for. We all know how important the nature is, but do we really care? Our chances of having a better community slowly fade. For these reasons, it is our job to advocate for a better environment. Because not all the time, our natural resources could give our demands, so it is necessary to conserve them or just simply, be a disciplined steward of God’s creation. On the other hand, it must be our duty then to give something back – the deepest gratitude that everyone may contribute through protecting our Mother Earth. Performing any kind of activity other than this is not a complicated thing; we just need to have willingness and cooperation in our work. So what are we waiting for? Let’s not blame each other’s part, for we are individually liable for one’s negligence and irresponsibility. Well, it’s not yet too late for us to be optimistic. Let’s not act later, tomorrow, or on the other day. Today is the best time to make change. Good luck beautiful creatures of God!…
