English Short Story Final
Harvest Betray by 'Friend'
Different culture effects relationships between people, especially when you just joined a new environment. Studying overseas is a very nice opportunity for students, but there are handicaps all the time. Issues are hard to solve, students try to join the new society, but people in the new society don't give chances at all. Sometimes, people in new environment give their chances to foreigners, however the ways are usually hard to understand.
A poem by Ania Walwicz has shown the difference clearly, she is using limited English, but also showing big ideas and her feelings about Australia. It expressed the feelings of her being in Australia. It showed she was disappointed with Australia and her friend Doreen. She was frightened about what happened at that day.
I just arrived Gympie. Feeling a bit hot over here, “I am looking forward to my new life here.” She said it quietly to herself. Walked on the streets and looked around, people looked kind and friendly in this place. I felt this is a good start. I kept walking to found out where my home-stay is. Surprisingly it was a small house, I thought it will be an apartment,it had a great spot, not far away from town.
I knocked on the door, a kind young man came out, “Is it Ania?” He asked with a lovely smile on his face. “Welcome to Australia.” She was surprised, she thought it will be a challenge to talk to the people at home-stay before, but it seemed alright. “Come in, this is your first time over here?” He looked at me, he knew I am not good at English, so he tried to say the words clearly and slowly. “I good, happy now.” I said to him and thought he should be an easy-going person.
I was so nervous about the home-stay, I had many thoughts before I came here. What if they don't accept me or they don't like me in the home-stay... We both sat on the couches. He asked me a lot about home and how things going. He told me a lot about the town and Australia. He told me his name is Nick and

One’s final moments often leave many questions. “What will my final thoughts be?” or “What would my final statement to the world be?” Reflections on death are often avoided because death can be terrifying but, if forced to think about it, what would you do in the final moments of your life? The author of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, Ambrose Bierce, wants the reader to focus on his or her final moments and how they might unfold. The author is able to make the reader feel as though he or she is actually sharing the protagonist, Peyton’s, terrifying experience and provokes reaction and deep feeling. The plot is intriguing, unique and takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster. By using character development, the author is able to make the main character personable and relatable. Additionally, the setting and it’s description, pulls the reader into the text and transports him/her to Peyton’s world. The author hooks the reader with these elements and ultimately forces him or her to reflect on his/her last moments of life.…

“Hey, we are in Tennessee”, my husband said as he lightly shook my shoulder until I acknowledged him with opening my grayish green eyes. “Good morning beautiful, only a half an hour away from the vacation you have always wanted us to take.” Instantly the widest smile you could ever imagine covered my face. I was so happy to be there rolling up an over these bright green hills into the mountains that harbor the cabin we would soon occupy. “I love you so much.” “I cannot even begin to explain how much this means to me Adam”. I said as we past the sign displaying a two mile away conformation that was truly needed do to the navigation becoming obsolete when we began winding thru the one lane roads. “Beautiful,” I said as we pulled up to the cabin.” ”Absolutely beautiful, even more so then I imagined”, said Adam as the slightest drops of rain began to fall from one of the few clouds that floated above. “I wonder what the weather is forecasted to be this week”. I asked as we walked hand in hand with my romantic husband into the two story cabin and on to making my dream come true.…

In Richard Wright’s “The Rights to the Streets of Memphis” a boy named Richard is kicked out of his house to buy the groceries, but a gang tries to beat him up on the way. The boy has to build up his courage and face the gang.
