Night
Camille Steeprock
On Halloween night, Kelly was with her friends Ally, Kayla, Rena, Olivia,
Emma, and Rachel trickortreating on Martins Lane. Kelly and her friends started up the driveway towards their next house when her friend Ally spoke up and said,
“Before we all have to go home, I want to go egging!”
Everybody broke out into laughter because they didn’t think she could be serious. They would get into a lot of trouble if they did go egging. Ally looked at all of them confused. They all stopped laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Ally said after all the laughing died down.
“You can’t be serious Ally, if we get caught..” Olivia said stopping to think of all of the things that could go wrong if they did go egging.
“That’s why we’re not going to get caught” replied Ally.
“Fine, let’s do this then.” Kelly said.
“You in?” Ally said to their twin friends, Rena and Kayla.
“Yeah, sure.” They said in unison.
“Wait, where are we going to get the eggs?” said Olivia.
They all looked at each other.
“Hmm, how about we just steal some eggs from the towns dining hall?”
Ally said.
“What if the doors are locked? What will we do then?” Kayla spoke up.
“Then we would climb in the windows, they are always unlocked during the summer because of how hot it is outside!”Ally shouted with excitement because she knew she was right.
“Oh yeah that’s right,” Kayla said.
“Alright then, I hope you’re right” Rena says.
“What are we waiting for, we should head up there now since the diner is at the top of the hill,” Ally says to the girls as they start to walk up the hill to the diner. “If one of us gets caught or something, we can’t say names or anything.
Just in case, okay guys?” Kelly said to them.
All the girls nodded their heads in agreement to what Kelly told them.
The girls finally reached the top of the hill, the diner was just down the road. “Okay, here’s the plan for now. I’ll take Kayla and Kelly with me to the back of the diner. I’ll lift Kelly

Composers use many techniques in their texts to use images to portray, places and ideas. Director John Ruane in his film Dead Letter Office uses multiple camera shots to portray Alice as a hopeful young girl waiting for her father to come home, and then as a young adult determined to find her father through her letters. Banjo Paterson uses literary writing techniques and adjectives in his poem, Clancy of the Overflow, to give us vivid images of the relaxing and calming life of the drover Clancy. Through the use of the mise-en-scene of Frank’s house, Ruane decorates the house with outdated and sparse furniture to tell us that Frank is not very wealthy and the positioning of the house on the outskirts of a suburb also tell us that he is alone and dislocated. The Queensland country is strong depicted in Clancy and the Overflow by the use of strong adjectives describing the landscape such as ‘sunlight plains,’and ‘everlasting stars,’ and ‘ river on its bars,’ are examples of the writing techniques that Banjo uses in this poem. In Ruane’s film, the pigeon Punt Road is used as a metaphor for home and as a metaphor for Aclice and Frank being trapped inside themselves and the release of Punt Road symbolises their release. The idea of a romanticised Queensland bush is brought about of Banjos Paterson’s use of creative writing techniques that is used whenever the city person is talking about the place that Clancy is at.…

“Today is January 17, 1452.”, announced the king. “Our three kingdoms and my staff are here for one reason…” Princes Maddie was seated in her throne and her mind was wondering. “ … for my daughter’s marriage.” The king continued. Beautiful princes Maddie was only paying attention to Cedric, a place slave. Maddie and Cedric were silently mouthed words to each other. When Cedric mouthed a joke, Maddie accidentally let out a laugh. “Maddie!” Yelled her father. “Pay attention!” Her father’s raspy unsettled voice screeched. “Where was I, oh ya. Now, we will have a series of competitions for our young princes to compete in for my daughter, Maddie’s, hand in marriage. Let's introduce our princes.” The king’s voice…
