English Reflection Essay
Writing is not one’s biggest strengths because one has trouble knowing how to organize his paper so it can flow together. Also, doesn’t know when to use commas. However, writing is an important thing to know because one will need it throughout his lifetime ranging from school to work. People can do many things with writing, for example, people may express their feelings by writing. Also, inform their audience about a topic. Knowing how to write the proper way is beneficial to the user because when using writing in school it will get them good grades on their papers and will show they understand how to write. Writing is a useful skill that a person can use in their lifetime. This semester one has learned many things during English 102. One has learned that it takes multiple times to revise a paper to make it sound better than what it was and make it …show more content…
One did not have any struggles with the three summary responses he did in English 102 because he understood the process of it and also the structure of the summary responses. In the beginning of the rhetorical analysis one was struggling because it was one’s first time doing a rhetorical analysis and has never seen one before taking English 102. Also, with the rhetorical analysis we needed to use logos, pathos, and ethos which was the first time one has ever done a paper implementing logos, pathos, and ethos. Annotated bibliography was not challenging at all because in English 101 we did a similar thing as the annotated bibliography which we just had to summarize the important things in the article that one is going to use for his research. For the research argument one thought that is was the same thing as the research paper one did in English 101 which was similar to it, but in the research argument for English 102 we needed to use sup topic throughout the paper supporting the background, effect, and

After taking English 1101 in the fall, I was confident in my writing. However, after receiving peer reviews and comments from my professor, I found that my writing was far from perfect. The essay assignments in English 1102 were those that consisted of analysis, something I was not familiar with. When I used sources from the short story I was analyzing in my first draft, I did not provide enough evidence on how my sources related back to my thesis. However, with the help of the peer reviews I received, I was able to edit my essay and use my sources in a way that made my argument stronger. Below are different stages of my analysis on the short story "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been," by Joyce…

This quote means that you have many moments in life that are simply just to take up time and carry one throughout the years but memories are much more important and stay in one’s head forever with no time limit. This quote is significant to the two novels Rush Home Road and Kite Runner because each protagonist has a past that they carry with them throughout their years. Their memories of tragedy are with them forever and there is no way of escaping them permanently. In the novels Rush Home Road by Lori Lansens and Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, the protagonists, Addy and Amir, are constantly drawn back home by recalling difficult memories, through adoption, and with the idea that they have a mission to complete.…

This is my second year at Winthrop. I transferred from Western Carolina University, and their English 101 class is like this course. It was about perfecting argument style writing, so I feel as though this class will partially feel like a repeat for me. However, we did not focus on learning to read, think, and write critically. I do believe this class will help with all of that, especially with reading. A lot of the time when I read, I feel like I am not understanding or comprehending what the author is saying very well. This could be due to lack of reading in the past several years, but also because of my lack of comprehension and critical reading skills.…

This semester has had a lot of work especially in English II, but I’m glad it was like that because I have learned a lot in my English class. As my English 101 class comes to an end there are many valuable lessons we learned in this class. We learned how to respond to the author. We learned how to write in the They Say/I Say style, which I plan on using this style to write in most of my papers from now on. Another lesson we learned in this class was how to create a thesis with tension. The lessons I learned in English 101 will most likely be used again as I progress on with English 102 as well as the rest of my college career.…

Earning a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition Exam was my most memorable experience in English. The test required three hours of multiple choice questions and timed essays, and it left me feeling both exhausted and validated. While passing the test was a serious accomplishment, it was not an isolated act. Much of my growth and success came before the exam, rather than after it. I attribute my score to a year of hard work and learning in my AP English class, which greatly enriched my life.…

Throughout the 2016-2017 school year, I have discovered new concepts and increased my skills in english writing and literature. I believe that these works presented best represent the growth I had this year, though I feel like I could write with a higher quality. My writing, reading, and analyzing skills in English have improved throughout this year through multiple essays, annotations, and figurative language assignments. In the writing pieces, my strength is mainly in creative writing and research projects, as I learned from the assignment. Though I have grown, I am convinced that I can still increase my writing quality in the future.…

When people talk about race cars or high-performance sports cars, the topic of turbochargers usually comes up. Turbochargers also appear on large diesel engines. A turbo can significantly boost an engine's horsepower without significantly increasing its weight, which is the huge benefit that makes turbochargers so popular. A turbo basically makes your car go faster by forcing compressed air into the engine. It’s a type of force induction system; it forces more air into the cylinder which means more fuel can be added in which results as more power is produced. It increases the power to weight ratio, and which is good because the turbo charger in addition does not weigh very much.…

It was another reason to wake up early and gear up for some exhilarating morning for us, Lasallians to be part of one of the biggest event in DLSU which is One Run, One Family, One La Salle (OROFOLS). It was held at Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. This is actually my first time to join an event like this. Good thing DLSU offered this to us, it was very tiring but nice experience though. Since this is a requirement, we froshies have to join in this event. We joined the 3k run and it was very exhausting but it was worth it after all because I was able to bond with my block mates. We were not after the prize of any sort or for finishing in the top 10. We were there to support the event and to actually experience it. We had a great time and we were proud that we actually finished the run without shortcuts, without thoughts of giving up. I realized the need to have a more active lifestyle. It was hard to run continuously even for two or three minutes. And I don’t see competitiveness and endurance there. We should all take steps in living a healthier and more active lifestyle. If you think so, do it soon before any ailment strikes you and stop you from doing any physical activity.…

In my lifetime I have come across many different people from all walks of life. Since my childhood I have always interacted with people who did not look like me, but it never bothered me, because I never saw another's race or color; I just saw people. My parents never instilled any type of racism in me, so therefore I never had a problem with anyone of a different race or background. If anything, I was taught to respect others as I would like to be respected myself. Also, I was heavily influence by the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. King was someone I look up to and respected, and for some odd reason I felt a strange connection to him; it was later on in life I found out that me and Dr. King have the same personality type. It has always been my belief that as humans we are very capable of getting along with each other. When you watch kids play you never really see segregation or bigotry among them, that’s because they have not learned what racism is yet. Being comfortable with other cultures is a natural gift we all have, the reason I believe there is so such much discomfort with many of us mixing and interacting with other cultures is that we condition ourselves to be that way. I believe people will be people! Someone from another country should not be viewed as some alien from another galaxy. If everyone was the same this would be one boring planet! It is our differences that make us all unique, and getting acquainted or comfortable with "differences" should be something we all should strive to do.…

One should assume that in taking an Intro to English course that they would be formally and informally introduced to English. However, that assumption escaped me. I didn’t know that we would explore so many avenues for English as a major, but I’m pleased that we did. This journey through the various areas of English has both enlightened me and piqued my interest. While I entered into this course feeling very confident with the path that I wanted to travel, I am now a bit more open-minded about additional ways to reach my destination; which is English Education.…
