The Better Pet
Dogs have always been called “man’s best friend.” Studies have shown this to be true and dogs are the better pet especially over a cat. Although dogs and cats are both wonderful house pets, dogs are more intelligent and easier to train than cats, and dogs are also far more loving and loyal than most cats will ever be.
When it comes to training, dogs are by far easier and more trainable than cats. Have you ever seen a cat sit or meow on command? Even though dogs do have a longer training period than cats do, there are many more tricks and commands owners can teach them. The article “New Scientist study finds dogs are better than cats” says that “Dogs can also follow human gestures, such as an outstretched finger or a nod of the head to find food” (Zoidberg). Dogs are also more sociable and playful than that of a cat as well. They would rather be left alone most of the day taking cat naps and scratching on household furniture. On the other hand dogs would rather be with someone playing in the yard, chasing a ball, or going on walks in the park. The best choice for a family pet would defiantly be a dog since they are the easiest to train and are more willing to be sociable.
Dogs also are the more intelligent pet. Dogs have always been more than just a great companion over the years. They have helped people walk, see, hear, and even have rescued people from fires. This is why police cats isn’t a term usually heard, Seeing Eye cats, or rescue cats. Whenever the owner talks to their dog they will tilt their head and seem to have an interest in what they are saying. “One study found that a border collie called Rico had mastered the meaning of more than 200 words” (Zoidberg). But when you call a cat they don’t seem to recognize their name being called or don’t even care. This shows that dogs are far more intelligent and have an interest in their owner.
Finally, dogs are more loyal and loving than a cat. Dogs

Dogs are man’s best friend, but let’s pay attention to the underdog here. Or rather, the under-cat. The nation is in a debate about which is the best pet, dogs or cats. Dogs are great, however, here’s the reasons why cats are superior. Cats are independent animals and can be left unattended. Cats are not raucous, unlike dogs. Cats can align themselves upright. I read the article “Cats are funnier than Dogs”, written by Jesse David Fox. In this article, Jesse gave an idea that cats are more humorous and explained her opinion. The “funny” or “humorous” is based on cat’s characteristics. Cat is more self-centered. Different from other pets or animals, they think themselves are nobler and not willing to be demeaned. Therefore, cats are not very willing to obey order like dogs and making choice brilliantly and cleverly. For instance, Jesse said cats knew how to run away by flushing the toilet. Comparing with cats, Dogs are more loyal, obedient and friendly. They more like you friends and even your part of family. Because they listen to you and actually care about you. I have two dogs and my sister have…

One reason of how dogs are smarter than cats is how Dogs are technologically-advanced. I know this sounds trivial and silly but this particular connection is far more important than people would expect. Ph. D John Bradshaw states that although the owner’s bond with the animal will remain constant and strong no matter the species of the animal, their feelings towards you could be significantly different depending on which animal you choose. He then backs up this claim stating the obvious “cats are different from dogs”. This is something we all know but we probably don’t pay much attention to what that means when choosing an animal to grow a relationship with. For instance, a dog will need to be walked unlike a cat, which means you will need to commit to the extra exercise and work put into an animal, this may be why dog owners stress that their bond is much greater than those of a cat owner (Bradshaw, John, Ph.…

Dogs are better than cats due to their higher level of involvement. A dog will run, play, and cuddle; however, the majority of cats will go and hide. When a cat is cuddled with, it will often resist and scratch, while my dogs will embrace me and provide comfort. In addition, dogs will engage in activities with their owners. One of my…

For years people have been disagreeing about which is better cats or dogs. I think dogs are a whole lot better. One reason I like dogs better is because dogs can work as service dogs. They are trained to assist people with physical disabilities. Tasks that service dogs can do are helping with pulling wheelchairs, opening doors, and picking up objects as small as a dime. Service dogs help the disabled. Service dogs work with people that have disabilities such as Diabetes, MS, Cancer, Autism and Epilepsy.…

“Money can buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail.” These are the words of Kinky Friedman, an American Poet; yet Rod McKuen says: “Cats have it all - admiration, an endless sleep, and company only when they want it.” Cats and dogs are the two animals that are most commonly kept as pets around the world. Although there are plenty similarities between cats and dogs, socialization, intelligence, and personality mark some important differences.…

To sum up, both of them are faithful, beautiful companions to men, even though they differ from each other in need of care and laziness. Cats are more independent, while dogs want to be around people all the time. It can be observed that the only resemblance between cats and dogs are that they are charming, lovely creatures. It depends on the person’s expectations from a pet to have either of them; though, in the end, they will have a…

Certain people come to everyone’s mind when the words “dog person” and “cat person” are brought about. Is it the difference in personality or temperament from one person to another? It very well would could be. Dogs and cats mean a lot to different people, but can a cat be taught to protect its owner? No, not to just claw at anyone who comes near its companion, but really PROTECT that person? Can a cat be potty trained?
