"Hello and welcome to 107 news. A new super virus has taken over the nation of Astar. The citizens are dying in waves and the cure is still unknown. Soon there won't be anything left to find when other nations try to take the land." The scene in the news studio was completely different to the scene outside. I woke up, screaming in terror from a nightmare about what had happened during those terrible couple of years when the virus began to kill, and had left me all alone after the rest of my family had passed. The survivors had grouped together and we were currently living in an abandoned house, trying to stay away from the rotting smell of the dead bodies scattered around the nation. I rose from sleep and went searching for anyone to spend time with, but they all seemed to be frozen, like statues in a museum. I tapped on the shoulder of Jake, but he didn't move or even blink, and I screamed in terror and tasted metallic blood on my tongue. What is happening? I thought to myself as I sprinted to my room and tried, unsuccessfully, to fall back asleep. Eventually, I could, and when I woke up, the world seemed like it was back to normal, with the sound of people's laughter and conversations filling the once empty space. That night, I once again woke up from my fitful sleep and decided to walk it off, but when I came downstairs, feeling the touch of the wooden handrail, and the pair of survivors on watch didn't wave back to me, or even blink. I exited the house, and the wind whistled as the world froze, and — suddenly there was a glimpse of someone darting through the streets. They were a cat - they moved lithely and disappeared from sight for a few seconds, then reappeared

In the middle of one night, I had awoken and made my way out of our bedroom after noticing that my husband was still not home. I looked out the front window and saw him walking unsteadily in the direction of the house and our black cat making his way towards the drunken man. Suddenly, I witnessed him violently snatching Pluto and the frightened cat accidently biting his hand. In horror, I watched as my once-loving husband became possessed by anger. With malice showing in his eyes, he grabbed the unfortunate pet by the throat and pulled out his pocket knife. My hand rose to my mouth in fear and I gasped as the ill-fated cat had one of his eyes cut from his socket. With tears threatening to spill down my face, I hurriedly made my way back to the bedroom and feigned sleep. The last thing I wanted was to experience the other side of my husband’s rage. My thoughts prevented…

There is no way I could sugarcoat this. I slumped down behind the bathroom door and took a deep breath. What originally began as a day filled with strength, service, and self-reliance had now ended filled with despair, disbelief, and damage.…

It is 5 AM in the morning, my room was just plain dark as if there was no existence. I noticed my door open with a loud *Squeeeeak*, a quick hand motion I saw, almost looked it something of the speed of light. My owl next to my door was gone, I screamed out loud scared, yelling “WHOS THERE?” no one replied but a very loud *Screeeeetch*. There was someone moving down the staircase, the sounds it made spooked me. I thought to myself “Who would steal a stuffed owl?” could it be my brother or sister? I quickly just closed my door, locked it, and turned on my lights. I saw my baseball bat under all my stuffed animals, while grabbing it I grabbed my stuffed bird. Unlocking my door and going in the hall way that’s almost just like a void, seeing a…

The cool autumn air seeps in through the open window of our small cottage, letting it wash over me I sit and question what exactly had happened. The war was certainly terrifying but that dark shadow thing that lurked in my...dream? It was more terrifying than the horrors that I witnessed. Swearing softly I hobbled over to the small kitchen and tore up one of the rags and cleaned my wounds.…
