English and International Integration.
Viet Nam is a developing country. Like any other countries, it tries very hard to promote its economy. And the most effective way to do that is associating with other countries. Viet Nam is now associating with America, Philippines, China, Thailand... These associations have led to the International integration in Viet Nam. However, it can only be built by using the international language of the world – English.
International integration is a process by which countries remove the barriers to trade freely and absorb new technology, new culture... outside the national boders. English is a tool for countries to have International integration. Nowadays, nearly by 4 billions people all over the world use English as their main or their second language. Knowing English is a necessary ability for the modern Vietnameses. Fluency in English has become an indispensable skill in the context of economic integration today.
In my opinion, English not only helps you to expand the scope of communication, to impress people around you, but it also brings you many other benefits in the age of integration. Firstly, knowing English allows people to catch the trends of the world. So what field are you intersted in? Fashion? Sports? Science? Or politics? The media today, such as the Internet, television or newspaper, brings you a lot of information about the subject you like. It’s very fast and convenient. You can update the newest fashion style of the week, the hottest news about a football match at the World Cup or the latest information of the upcoming Iphone. But the only problem is most of these information is in English, for examples: 80% of Websites on the Internet is in English, popular Newsletters on TV like BBC or CNN are also in English. That’s why you can have all the information you want in any part of the world as long as you know English.
