The Crucial Existence of Passion

Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion. No matter what you do in this life, one of the most important things you can do is follow your passion. Unfulfilled or not, everybody has passions. In this essay, I would like to touch on the importance of pursuing passions, or if you like, following your heart to places you have only ever dreamed of. To have passion for work or for your hobby helps us all learn and expand in our natural gifts and talents. Realizing that passion involves dedication and perseverance, and even that chance of failure has to be considered; following your passion involves a certain amount of risk. By taking such actions, it allows us to gain skills in areas that we are already hold strength in and pushes us to grow in all directions, which in turn can then be shared with the rest of the world. In the text, “Walden by Henry David Thoreau,” he is influenced by his surroundings in making choices about his future path in life. Keeping yourself engaged in your work, or even your hobbies, keeps your mind young, as you grow older. Such a characteristic, allows you to feel that your life has a meaningful purpose.

There are some basic needs that must be addressed before anyone can move forward in pursuing their passion. Some of these basic necessities consist of food, shelter, safety, love, friendship, and so on. Once you have met all your basic needs, you are ready for self- actualization and you are able to start following your passions in life. As for the excerpt, “Walden by Henry David Thoreau,” it provides an example of the above information “because he speaks of the dead and pointless life he leaves behind for the sake of a rich, new, spiritual life.” Meaning that he has discovered his passion, along with a reason(s) to pursue it and will ignore all of life’s pointless curveballs and make sure he achieves his passion. You must embrace your passion, in order to succeed....
