English 100 Class Reflection
Hi Tuyen Vo. Frankly, passing English 100 class is a challenging target for me. There were many new techniques as well as rules to study because we wrote many types of writings in this class. Another challenge is that there were many assignments that need to be finished in a small amount of time. Submitting all assignments on time sometimes made me stressed out, for I had to put more effort into studying to make sure that there would be no late assignments. I totally agree with you that “hard complications make [people] stronger.” The class taught me that nothing is impossible. As long as I do not give up, I will finish my tasks and receive the reward. Like you, I enjoyed the weekly posts on discussion board. I believe the more we read one’s

When I first read question five and decided that this is the topic I wanted to write about for this particular essay, it made me think about all the different movies I have seen where the main character tragically dies but remains in the in between because they have a certain task they must complete before they can truly be gone and go to heaven. I’ve always found these kinds of movies interesting so I decided I would write my own story. Here it goes!…

Each individual has to struggle in order to perform better. During this semester, I have felt myself feeling more confident and comfortable as well as much better at writing. I have learned multiple things in my English class. I have learned different writing techniques, different formatting forms. Through class activities and wring different sorts of papers, I was able to learn those skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my skills when it comes to writing still need improvement., Skills, such as proper grammar, still need some adjustment. Even though I have things to improve on this semester, I was still able to improve some areas of my writing skills.…

On January 20th, 2016, my life changed because of my English 100 class. My disgusted feeling for writing had to be retained within my soul because of the everyday morning journals. Two days a week at 5:30am in the morning, I had to write a page or two about a book or subject in class. Painfully difficult to do, I eventually overcame my hate for writing. Journals became breakfast, participation became lunch, and essays were my dinner. My heart and soul went into my writing and in doing so my writing became powerful. I finally realized through “I am Malala”, that your voice on paper has a substantial impact on your audience. The strict grading policy provided through Denny Bozmen-Moss helped the organization and punctuation in my journals and…

Nearly everything in life eventually comes to and end. Seamus Heaney depicts this advancement of time in "Blackberry Picking" by combining both pleasing and harsh words to describe the blackberries at the time they ere picked and at a later date. The poem begins with a straightforward description of the act of the blackberries maturing. "Late August, given heavy rain and sun/ For a full week, the blackberries would ripen" (ll 1-2). These opening lines set a mood of peacefulness and tranquility which ill soon be broken. Just after these opening lines, Heaney incorporates a change in diction to words that do not induce a lovely image in the reader. Such words as "flesh," "blood," and "lust" contrast starkly it the readers conception of an innocent picking of blackberries. Thus, Heaney continues his poem with the sole purpose of showing the darker side of a supposed pleasant occasion and alluding to the inevitable passage of time.…

Coming into the course, I didn’t know what to expect. In my opinion the AP English Language I took Junior year was not up par with the actual AP standards and the teacher was extremely lenient. However, I had some difficulty adjusting but once I became use to the course and workload, my grades improved. I really enjoyed the class and when the AP exam came, I felt prepared and confident. This was a huge difference compared to junior year whereas I had to rely solely on self studying to score a 4.…

While reading this article I reflected and thought about things I could have changed. What popped into mind was my AP History class. At the beginning of the year I had told myself that I would retake all tests I had done poorly on and done all extra credit opportunities but I didn’t follow through. I realized in the second semester that I had not done what I said. I currently have an A- in the class but that still doesn’t average my class grade to an A. I feel like if I would have pushed myself more I could’ve had an A both semesters. Like Socrates said, “ You have to want it as much as you want air.”…

Even though I never had any problems with English throughout high school, I was worried about how college would be like. I thought it would be completely different from high school, when in fact it is not. Personally, I think taking AELW 940 the first half of the semester prepared me well for English 101. Although, I learned a lot in AELW 940 I still had some things to learn and my essays reflected that during English 101. I had problems with comma splices, run on sentences and poor vocabulary. Since then, I started to read and write more on my own time. I feel this is the key that has helped me improve in my writing although it isn’t perfect yet.…
