And lastly, the hours I have spent serving homeless, disabled, elderly, and sick people in my community have opened my eyes to the countless opportunities for growth within the environment that our population inhabits. The job of an architect can be more than one of aesthetics; an architect can assist in public concerns. Throughout High School and college I didn't know what career path that I wanted to take. As a college student, I just gained the opportunity to express myself, to spread my wings and to go after my dream only to realize that I didn’t know what it was that I wanted to pursue. The pressure and expectation from everybody did not help the cause either. So I decided that I am going to pursue engineering because it is a profession that I could finish and get a job after 4 years, plus I had friends I knew that were also doing engineering. I attended an engineering seminar along with my friends to attain a better understanding of the job and what it entails to achieve the goal. The classes I needed to take to be an engineer required a lot of math and physics, and once if I became and engineer I would need to apply those subjects in the job. I knew right then that engineering wasn't the right profession for me because I would…

My time here at South Brunswick High School has been a time for self-exploration. I spent my first two years at SBHS trying to find out who I was as a person and what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Ever since I was young, I yearned for the opportunity to help not only humanity but the world as well. My whole family is full of engineers, so since a young age I despised them. I saw the path of engineering as a beaten path that simply wasn’t for me; I sought to be unique. However, I failed to realize that engineers were the people building towards the future. Engineering is the one profession that captures risk, innovation, and courage in one lifestyle. One very influential person taught…
