The share of energy from renewable sources is very less due to reasons like high cost, technical backwardness or inavailability. As it is said time and again that -“Necessity is the mother of all inventions.” A necessity has arisen as the conventional sources are depleting at a faster rate and are incapable to suffice the needs of the world at large. Even the ideas for conservation of energy is being given importance nowadays. It should be given importance but these ideas would let solve the problem on a temporary basis for a decade or two. Switching to renewable resources has become the necessity and awaits an invention to be used as a prime source rather than as an alternative not only to solve crisis but also to meet other problems of environmental pollution and degradation or we can say to achieve sustainable development. Sustainable development is our duty for our coming generation and if we can’t create we should not

Majority of the worlds energy needs are supplied through petrochemical sources, coal and natural gases, with the exception of hydroelectricity and nuclear energy. All these sources are finite and at current rate of usage these will be consumed shortly. The high energy demand in the industrialized world as well as in the domestic sector and pollution problems caused due to the widespread use of fossil fuels make it increasingly necessary to develop the renewable energy sources of limitless duration and smaller environmental impact than the traditional one. As a result research and development for alternative sources to replace the petroleum-based fuels has started.…

Energy is necessary for daily survival. Many forecasts of recoverable oil reserves and resources suggest that oil production will level off by the early decades of the next century and then gradually fall during a period of reduced supplies and higher prices. Gas supplies should last over 200 years and coal about 3.000 years at present rates of use. Future development crucially depends on its long-term availability in increasing quantities from sources that are dependable, safe, and environmentally sound. At present, no single source or mix of sources is at hand to meet this future need. The energy to provide heat for warmth, cooking, and manufacturing, or power for transport and mechanical work services…

The issues of and concerns about the energy sector are multi-faceted, often international, spatially differentiated and dynamic due to the pivotal role of energy in any individual’s day-to-day life as well its importance as a key input to the production processes that transform inputs to goods and services, and because of the sector’s multi-dimensional strategic importance (in terms of macro-economic influences, geo-political implications, and environmental concerns). Yet, at any given time a common set of issues having a common appeal across the board often tends to emerge. Concerns related to the security of supply are dominating recent discussions now (Bielecki, 2002; Toman, 2002). Access to energy for billions who are struggling to get access to affordable, reliable, and acceptable energy services is a major challenge for achieving sustainable development worldwide (IEA, 2002; DfID, 2002). At the same time, fingerprints of unsustainable practices abound: unprecedented demand growth with demand arising from new centres of growth in contrast to traditional centres; globalization of wasteful consumption patterns; supply concentration in politically unstable regions; financially bankrupt state…
