Toothaches can be troublesome. They can make your night sleepless and can cause disruption in your day-to-day chores. The main culprit of toothaches could be tooth decay, which can infect the pulp and make it very uncomfortable for you to live. Fortunately, there is a treatment available, root canal therapy, which can help you.
What’s Root Canal Therapy?
Root canal therapy or endodontic therapy is a string of treatments that focuses on the pulp cavity of a tooth. When the pulp cavity of a tooth is infected, it causes severe pain. Root canal therapy, therefore, focuses on eliminating the infection and, at the same time, protecting the disinfected tooth from any invasion of bacteria in the future.
In simpler terms, root canal therapy is a treatment that focuses on the inside of a tooth. It is a necessary treatment when the pulp of a tooth has been infected or inflamed. The causes of the infection or inflammation of the pulp vary greatly. In common cases, it is a severe decay of the tooth, but in other cases, it could be a crack or chip in the tooth, faulty crown, or repeated dental procedure on the tooth. When neglected, the infection or inflammation causes excruciating pain.
