Endocrinologist Career Goals
Hardworking, committed, and inspired are just a few words that describe me when it comes to reaching my goals. Since the age of ten all, I ever wanted to do was to make my parents proud of me. I figured that the best way to do that is to have them see me going after my dreams and goals and achieving them. Ever since I can remember I loved going to school. I would be so excited to go to school and learn something new. I would get joy out learning new things and gaining knowledge and until this day I still do. The rush I would get when I received my grades back and saw that I got an A was incredible. I always loved to get good grades and every time I had a test coming up I could not help but study nonstop until the day of the exam. I have my parents to thank for that because they have always pushed me to do better in school and learn as much as I can. I am very proud of the person that I have become because of them a hardworking and devoted person that will not let anything stand between her and her dreams. …show more content…
The reason that I chose this career goal was not because at the age of fourteen I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes but because of endocrinologist doctor I was assigned to. She taught me everything I needed to know about diabetes and how to live with it. I could see the passion she had for it and how devoted she was to try to help others with this disease. I did not realize it at the moment but she was the one that got me so interested in learning about diabetes and helping others that she is the reason that I want to become an endocrinologist. She inspired me to choose endocrinology as my career choice and I hope to one day be able to inspire someone else like she inspired

According to hormone.org, Endocrinology is the “study of medicine that relates to the endocrine system, which is the system that controls hormones”. An endocrinologist is a trained professional who: monitors , records and reports the wellness conditions of a patient, modifies patient treatment fields, prepares patients for examinations (gives them information and schedules appointments that lead up to the procedure), supervise and manage less-skilled endocrine surgeons, and “diagnose problems dealing with the: thyroid, adrenals, pituitary gland, ovaries, and testes” (mayo.edu). I have chosen to obtain a minor in endocrinology due to the rise in the career need and experience with these health care professionals. My mother receives chemotherapy from and endocrinology clinic called LabCorp. From the age of eight, I had become enthralled in this study and would like to continue research in the field.…

When I was four years old I was asked, "Katie, what do you want to do when you grow up?” To my family's surprise my response was "Work on hearts or brains". I always strived to do the best that I can, in everything that I do, and this especially applies to academics. In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…
