Employee Training and Career Development
Human resource management (HRM) organized by the Human Resource Department (HR) is essential in career development they maintain up-to-date training for current employees and new employees of an organization. Training and career development play a major role in the success of an organization as well as employee development and organizational development.

In an organization training is an important investment for the employee and the organization. It is a strategy that provides skills to employees while boosting the confidence and increasing the knowledge to complete their jobs. Employees that are trained with the latest knowledge and skillset are able to perform their jobs with greater efficiency, smoother operations resulting in satisfied customers. The organization that provides a faster service and satisfies the customer will keep a customer and by word of mouth gain customers. The more customers equals more profit which leads to an increase in benefits, rewards or other types of appreciation to the employees. When an organization shows they care about their employees it will motivate them to be even more successful (Ansar, 2009).

Employee development methods and their benefits can be accomplished in many different ways and are essential in an organization. An organization can utilize internal and external methods to train employees some of those methods are: on-the-job training (OJT) or assisting, job rotation, multimedia learning, offsite classes, lectures, simulations and if needed higher learning (DeCenzo, Robbins, & Verhulst, 2015). Rotating job positions and OJT allows the individual to work alongside personnel and gain knowledge of that particular position or trade. External methods allow the individuals to focus on the training and not their job. Lectures, simulations, and seminars allow individuals to gain knowledge on the current information as well as fulfilling continuing education requirements needed for the job. Adventure training is used as a tool to see how employees handle difficult situations. The downside of external training is that it can be expensive and a loss of manpower (Decenzo et al., 2015).

Employee development and organizational development are the same in that they both focus on the success and improvement of the organization. Employee development is focused on the employee current job and their future training for that employee career ensuring they are trained for positions of higher responsibility. Employees that improve his or her personal goals of critical thinking, problem solving, and human relations are no longer in the training process, they are in a developmental process (Decenzo et al., 2015). Organizational development is the process of developing the organization as a whole; organizations change to be more competitive, to realign themselves in the market they must be focused on the employees now skills, personal growth, analytical thinking, people skills, and other leadership skills that must be developed for higher levels of management (Decenzo et al., 2015).

Human resource management in career development is paramount in an organization. In the global economy today that is ever changing HR personnel have to be concerned with meeting the needs of employee career needs that match the organizations goals and strategies for the future. The HRM department must be concerned with selecting the right employee for the right position in the organization. Human resource management is not responsible for a person’s career. They are responsible for providing access to employees to increase their self-reliance and to provide access to continual learning that will make them marketable by adding to their knowledge and skills, advancement, financial reimbursement for education, providing training both on and off the job and...
