Title: Life without Music
Speaker: Karl Mathew Quimpo
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to realize how life without music is.

Introduction:
What is Music? How can music affects our lives? What is life without music? Music is the art of arranging tones in an orderly sequence so as to produce a unified and continuous composition. In reality, music does not have any one concrete meaning. Music has different meanings for different people. Music is unique in each person's life.
How music can affect our lives? Music can affect emotions such as sadness, happiness, anger, love, hatred and depression, Music greatly affects our personal moods. Music can calm and revitalize us in a variety of ways. It can elevate our moods above our personal fears and doubts and even reduce stress and pain levels. Try to listen to a classical music score for a sense of power. Soft, soothing music can help you unwind. And listen to medium-fast to fast music for exercising and house cleaning. Putting additional music in your life can be a powerfully enriching tool. It brings fun, it relieves stress. Music is quite important to the developing brain, it allows us to do more things, and comprehend things easier.
Music affects everything. It triggers emotions such as happiness and sadness. I think this is true because when I listen to music I feel hyped, happy and very energetic. But when I think of that dear person I lost I feel like music understands me. It comforts me just knowing someone out there is going through the same or worse. Music tends to make you realize that you aren't alone and that you’ll never be even if that feeling is there. So, How is life without music can be? Life without music is like a shower without water, sleeping without a pillow, hugging a lamppost, eating french-fries without ketchup, life without music is like flowers without scent, puppies without tennis balls, and mom without

Dick Clark once said, ¨Music is the soundtrack of your life.¨ Music is one of the most powerful and influential things in my life. Without the melodies and harmonies of music, my life would feel bland and meaningless. I have a very busy schedule and sometimes it is too easy to lose meaning in my everyday tasks, but with music I am able to keep meaning in my life. I use music to get me through the activities of my everyday life. Whether it is cleaning my room, doing homework, or just relaxing, music makes everything better. I think that music can convey feelings and emotions extraordinarily well. When words cannot do the job, music can. Along with that, I think that music accompanies memories very well also. Going back to Dick Clark’s quote, I think I would be able to make a timeline of my life just using song titles, albums, and…

“Without music, life would be a mistake.” ~ Friedrish Neitzsche. As we all know, music affects our mood, it's the rhythm and tone that does this. We can actually feel what we are listening to due to a major key and minor key. This is why we cry at sad songs and want to dance at happy and energetic songs. It has been proven that music therapy has helped depression. Suicide rates have actually been reduced by 87% due to what people consider to be “emo” music.…

Emotionally music affects my life a lot in a positive way. When I am feeling down I notice I stay away from listening to country or slow music but rather upbeat rap or pop music with a positive meaning or even no meaning at all. Music gives me the feeling of being in power. I know this sounds funny but I control what I listen to. If I listen to positive music, I turn into a positive person even with the bad mood I’m in. “Dissonance introduces conflict into music” (pg. 18) According to The Enjoyment of Music combining sounds that don’t go together will create a different emotion than music that do harmonize. Another up lifting way music affects my everyday life is it allows me to learn about other people and other locations. It keeps me entertained when I’m bored. The difference between Jamaican music and country music shows examples of different parts of the world and what some differences are. PBS states that music helps “enhance skills used in other areas.” This means listening to music helped me grow as a person. Through out the week I enjoy working out. I listen to music to get pumped up and push me farther than I would go with out it. Music also affects my everyday life in negative ways too.…

The article I found was titled “Music and Mood” by Carolyn J Murrock and Anita V Clark. The article explains how rhythm, melody, pitch, harmony, and interval in music play a role in creating alterations in mood in humans. Murrock and Clark state that, “Music produces psychological effects by engaging the limbic system.” The limbic system is the center of emotions, sensations, and feelings. The article also explains how your emotions affect your nervous system. This can affect your cardiovascular, respiratory, neuroendocrine, and immune systems in your body. Emotions also release different hormones. Stress hormones can lead to anxiety, depression and disappointment; whereas positive emotions lead to tranquility, complacency, and relaxation. Murrock and Clark believe that the release of these hormones when listening to music produces physiological effects in the human body. The therapeutic properties of music date back to prehistoric times when it was used as a powerful instrument for health, healing, and wellness. Today music is used less in pharmacological ways and more for enjoyment and enhancement of physical activity. People also use music today to alter moods, communicate feelings, and create distraction.…

Sound and melody have an intricate value to our emotional well-being as a whole, and also singularly per person. Music brings people together in the same spirit, such as a concert or a band that plays live performances. It’s hard to have the feeling of being alone while surrounded by a multitude of people all interested in the same subject! There have been concerts in which I attended, where it was difficult to sit still and just listen. The effects of the music were felt physically as well as emotionally. My heart rate increased, and there was felt an inner feeling of being happier and more energetic. A lot of people tend to use music as an emotional motivator when doing something they find tedious or hard, such as lifting weights, which is one way music affects myself. Although certain individuals may find this as a distraction while trying to complete a task or duty, instead…

Life without music would be as boring as a T.V. that only shows one color or a house that has only one room. In other words life without music would be dull. If there were a choice to have music in our lives and not have music in our lives I would definitely choose to have music in my life. I would choose to have music in my life for many reasons: to have something to enjoy whenever I want to, it can prepare me for anything, and I can turn it off whenever I want to.…
