Emmett Till Play Analysis

The story of Emmett Till brought to life in a one-man show. Emmett Till was a 14-year-old boy who traveled to Mississippi with his family from the Chicago. Young Emmett had an interaction with a white woman and from that point, his life turned up side down. Two white men killed young Emmett for interacting with a white woman because it was said that he flirted with her. At that time, it was unacceptable for a black male to talk to a white woman. Emmett was not familiar the south customs of living he was use to living up north a completely different environment. Young Emmett was playing around with his cousins and a few friends in front of the local store. While Emmett and his friends were playing around one of the girl’s dared him to go talk to the white women inside the store. Emmett went inside and talked to the white women and his older cousin
I never thought that I would have been able to understand the message of the Emmett Till with one man acting out the play. I was wrong it actually felt like there was a full cast. The actor did a fantasize job with the play with being able to portray all the characters in the play. I felt as I was actually there when Emmett Till had gone to visit his family in Mississippi.
