All the pain inside amplified by the
Fact that I can't get by with my nine-to-

For some, Empire isn't just a television show, it's their actual life. Those people are few and far between. For most of us, the idea of having our own business is a fantasy, let alone the idea of having an "empire". So how does one move from the quivering anticipation of a business fantasy to the scary, but exhilarating challenges of a real-life entrepreneurial adventure when seemingly

A coffee shop can be every bit as distracting as your home if you don't have a list. Before you head out, make a list of two or three things that you want to get done while you are there. Don't start on the second task until the first one is done, and don't treat yourself to a drink or snack until you have checked off at least one item on the list.

Write it Out. Successful people journal. There is so much frustration and doubt that can come your way when you want to break free from the status quo. Even those that you thought would be supportive, family and friends, are not always there for you. Instead of giving up or voicing your opinions out loud, write them down. Don't keep them in, but don't let them stop you either. Experts say that writing down the feelings can release the negativity and bring relief.

Give Yourself Permission to Fail. You may fall flat in some areas, that's okay. Remember how many shots Michael Jordan missed and how many passes Tom Brady threw incomplete or even had intercepted. Successful people fail, but then they rise back up. When you put your focus on one area of your life, other areas may be neglected, you have to give yourself permission to be less than perfect in those areas.

Nobody can promise that the road will be easy, but as the Chinese proverb says, "Even the longest journey starts with but a single step." Take your first step to independence,

“WHOA WHOA WHOA THIS IS BALONEY MAN!” that is something I say whenever I am frustrated. People have always told me sometimes the best way to learn something is through failure. People value things they have accomplished differently. Often the people whom are naturally adept at things do not realize how much of a struggle it can be for others. Many times when people have told me that if you are going to fall, fall forward. Do not let your insecurities, doubts, and pride get in the way of improving yourself. In brief, there can always be a way to improve yourself.…

The song, Don’t Shoot, by the Game is a collaborative rap song that explains racial injustice in one word ‘murder’. The artist use the theme that our reason for being on earth isn't to be murdered, but to strive and evolve into the future. This song perfectly fits with Dear martin, because in the book Manny a promising, young black man, was murdered by a police officer, for having his music to loud. We also see that Justyce the main protagonist, goes through his fair share of injustice and brutality by police. According to the text, “I did the math when I got back to my room there were 192 years between the Declaration of Independence and the end of all that Jim Crow stuff.…

Mary Eberstadt begins her excerpt from Home-Alone America: The Hidden Toll of Day Care, Behavioral Drugs, and Other Parent Substitutes by addressing the parental agenda on adolescent popular music and its degradation. She implies that the argument is ironic, stating that the parents of today’s teens are of the baby-boom generation where counterculture served as no stranger. But Eberstadt agrees with the parents. She too believes the popular music of today is much darker than that of the baby boom, comparing themes of misogyny, sexual exploitation, and violence to the trends of past generations.…

“Growing up” is a pop/rap song sang by artist Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, known as “Macklemore” as his stage name and written by his coworker Ryan Lewis, featuring Ed sheeran who sings the chorus (hook) released in 2016. The rapper Robert Rahmeek Williams, better known by his stage name Meek Mill, he’s a rapper from Philadelphia. He has been signed to Rick Ross Maybach music group and previously Ti Grand Hustle Records. The canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor Aubrey Drake Graham who was born in Toronto, Ontario records under the mononym. There’s a beef that starts between these two as I’m going to explain. It all starts when Meek Mill throws shade at Drake because he felt Drake failed to support his recent album “Dreams Worth More Than Money”. During the extended series of tweets Meek Mill accuses Drake of not writing his own rhymes, specifically the verse that Drake provided for “R.I.C.O”. He claims that Drake’s contribution to the…

One of my huge weaknesses is low self-esteem and confidence (Bethel University, 2014). Having this as a poor skill in life makes a lot of the other skills hard to conquer. I think if I had a higher confidence level then maybe I wouldn’t struggle so much with public speaking, management of people and seeking support from others. I don’t give myself enough credit and I am hard on myself. Another weakness that I struggle with is the ability to focus on one thing at a time. I have struggled with this quality as far back as I can remember. My mind is always racing and trying to complete more than more thing at a time.…

However, in my paid work I am finding that I have reached a plateau, where I know I can perform and produce the results, but doing so becomes more difficult as time progresses. This is a big issue, as targets are a part of my role, and I need to be hitting them. However, if I have a bad day or a day where there is lots of rejection, I find it more difficult to apply myself properly to the situation or the client on the phone, and do not “convert” them. This then means that my results suffer, and it leads to a cycle of poor results and up and down days.…

One of my favorite songs, recently, has been J. Cole’s Love Yourz. This song relate to feelings that we can all relate to, feelings of envy and jealously. We often look at the life styles of those around us, and we see what they have, and we compare ourselves to them. We feel that if we don’t live a certain life style or drive a fancy car that we are not living a purposeful life. We fall into the trap of focusing on others blessings and ignoring our own. From personal experience I have done this. I have looked at the blessing of others, and wondered why my blessings were not the same.…

Failures should be sought after and not be concealed by our own ego; in fact, Thoreau, upon reflecting his future death, realized how he did not wish to be confined. In my own experience, I have also discovered this idea and the knowledge dawns on me whenever I reflect upon myself, while underneath the celestial night sky. The discovery was early on in my life, around 15, that I learnt to search for my own failures and not ignore them, but encourage them. Nevertheless, this may seem like an exhausting way of life, granted it has worn itself on me a few times, however it eventually grows to be looked at as an embarrassing starting point of an ability or perspective, which later can grow to a substantive experience.…

I think that sometimes when life gets busy the first thing I do is well on what isn’t working. There isn’t enough time to accomplish everything I need to do. I feel like I am spinning out of control trying to find the ever elusive balance and continue to drop every single ball I am juggling in the process. I somehow think that in the hope of being everything I am letting down from the people all around me. For me it becomes a spiral that I can’t control. Negativity never breeds anything but contempt. Nothing good can come from getting down on myself. These feeling won’t just go away when I wave a magic wand. It takes a complete overhaul of mindset my ability to see each individual tree in the forest, it means I need to slow down and celebrate what matters. So that’s what I am trying to do , focus on the little things, the everyday successes that I know are right in front of me. It requires me to look through a much different lens, one of gratitude.
