I should be considered for the HEBF scholarship due to my hard work and determination; not just in playing sports, but for improvement. Whether it be soccer, volleyball, or track and field, I have never given up when presented with a challenge. I rather look at it as an opportunity for growth, something that can, not only strengthen my physical skills but my collaborative skills as well. Something that I have learned from participating in sports is coming up with ways to overcome obstacles and to keep trying. That means pushing myself to the limit and overpowering boundaries. The experience from participating in each sport have somewhat in some shape and form, taught me the importance of being a leader and working to together. These skills…

I hope to get some scholarships involving my education and basketball. I would love to attend any D1 school because most of them have great educational systems. One of my life goals is to become a lawyer. At first I would want to do my bachelors and play basketball all 4 years and try to go overseas. If I do not make it I would continue my field in law and try to get into law school. This is another goal that will be difficult. One college that I would really love to go to is the University of Michigan. This college has a great program for law but is very hard to get into. You need a 3.7 GPA and a 27 on your act, and it tends to get pricey over the years. Thank you for getting to know me a little better.…

Last year was my freshman year of high school and first year to be involved in the debate program at Lincoln College Prep. I have been involved in the program since middle school, which has largely cultivated my loved for learning and has given me skills that I find are of extremely high importance- not only has it provided me with portable skills and a huge amount of background knowledge on many subjects, but has also given me a community of people who support and encourage me in my endeavors. In my first year as a member of Lincoln Prep’s team, I learned more than I have in every other years put together. I attribute this largely to our former coach, who as an incredible teacher and mentor while he coached us. He was not afraid to teach us about controversial topics and to fill us in on current events. During that year, I partnered with a good friend from middle school. We did well in the novice level we competed again, which I again attribute to the coaching we received.…

I am the first in my family to attend and to soon graduate from college. I am honoring my mother and father’s dreams of me attending and graduating from college. It is also my dream. I do not have all the income needed to pay for my college education at the University of Northern Iowa. I need this scholarship so that I can finish my last year in college strong without any financial burdens. My financial needs…

Through all the hard practices and all the tiring games I realized that there may be a reward waiting on me. I started getting lots of letters from all different colleges. Hello my name is Dayo Akindele and I am interested in your school’s athletic department. I am 6’ 3” and weight 174 pounds. I have many different strengths in many different areas. First and foremost, I am a very hard worker. Whenever I do something I do it to the best of my ability and give it my all. I am extremely as seen through the dedication I have exerted through the years with the Heritage High School Track& Field and Basketball teams. Once I discovered that my true passion was track& field I completely devoted myself to the one program, while at the same time keeping up my grades in the classroom. I keep myself occupied running and jumping in this sport and I love it, but that is not my only motivation.…
