Emiliano Zapata was born the 8th of August, 1879 in Anenecuilco, which is a town near Villa de Ayala. In Morelos. His parents, Gabriel Zapata and Cleofas Salazar were peasants, so since he was a child he worked in the fields with his parents and learned about the problem of the rural peasants. Emiliano had 9 brothers and sisters, ninth child in the family. At the age of 17, Zapata was orphan and he had to take care of his sisters and brothers. He always defend the rights of the peasants because he was the son of a mestizo. He participate in many fights and protests to defend the peasants and because of that he had to entered to the army and served for six months. Zapata’s death.
After 10 years of war, Emiliano Zapata, was betrayed by his partners. He had to dig into morelos city where he published “Plan the Ayala” in 1911. In this document he wanted one third of the land, that was taken away by the “terratenientes”, given back to the natives. The slogan was “tierra y libertad”. Jesus Gallardo convinced Zapata to feel betrayed by Carranza, he told Zapata that him and Guajardo, were going to fight beside the fuerza Zapatista. Zapata believed him. They set uu a reunion in “hacienda de Chichimeca”. The 10thof april 1919 Zapata was betrayed by Gallardo and was killed in an ambush. Once death, Zapata became an revolutionary hero and a symbol to the peasants....
