The article “Emerging Theories of Learning and Preservice Teachers” written by Demetria L. Ennis-Cole and published in 2004 addresses the issue of preservice teacher needs, learning theories and educational philosophies and the integration of technology. The article emphasized on learning theories such as behaviourism, cognitive, social, radical constructivism, multiple intelligences and situated cognition. As it relates to the curriculum, there is a necessity for the knowledge of learning theories and technology integration within the preservice teacher curriculum to be implemented (Ennis-Cole, 2004).

The article was accurately formatted because it introduces the issues at the beginning of the article stating the purpose of the research. It was also informative because the beginning statement made clearly informed readers that preservice teachers need knowledge of learning theories and how technology relates to these theories. Another intention stated was that it will discuss ways to assist preservice teachers in acquiring these knowledge. Then the author ended with the thesis statement which indicated specifically what the article intended to discuss because the thesis statement was stated as, “this paper discusses established and emerging learning theories, the relationship between these theories and technology, and ways to help preservice teachers development personal educational philosophies that guide their selection, implementation and utilisation of classroom technology” (Ennis-Cole, …show more content…
One of which stated that if proper application of relevant strategies and practices are used to promote student’s interests and positive learning experiences then the implementation of curriculum will be successful and beneficial within the education system (Mugima & Mugisha, 2013).
