Elvis Presley Elvis Aaron Presley was born inside of a two roomed house in Tupelo, Mississippi , on January 8th , 1953. Elvis had a twin brother , Jessie Garon , who was still born. At the age of thirteen , he and his parents in 1948 moved to Memphis , Tennessee. There in 1953 Elvis graduated from Humes High School. Elvis was musically influenced by the pop and country genre of music , he frequently attended the all night gospel sings , and the gospel music he had experienced in church. Elvis had also seemed to take in Black R&B on Beale street as one of the Memphis teenagers. In 1954 , Elvis launched his singing career with the legacy of Sun Records Label in Memphis. In the late 1955 , Elvis’ recording contract had been sold off to RCA Victor , by the next year Elvis was an international sensation. Along many of his awards , there was fourteen Grammy award winning nominations (3 Wins). Three of those wins was from National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences , the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In that case he acquired at the age of thirty-six his name , Elvis Presley , was named one of the ten young men of the nation in 1970 approached by the United States Jaycees. Along his sound and style of clothing that combined in a very unique way, the diversion of his musical influences , blurred , that challenged the racial , and social barriers of that particular time period. He ushered inside of a completely new era of American , and popular culture of music. Elvis has starred in thirty-three victorious films , history was made with his appearances and specials. Elvis had known that such great commend through many of his record breaking , and live performances during tour, following along Las Vegas. Worldwide , he has sold over a billion records , it was more then any other artist of that time and before.
