Macpherson was born in Sydney, Australia, which makes her a native speaker of English. At 19 years old, she married French photographer Gilles Bensimon and moved to France with him. As a result, she’s completely fluent in French. Macpherson can also speak conversational Spanish and Italian.

Number Ten: A Couple of Books that Changed Her

Elle enjoys reading when she’s not too busy with work (which is not often, we guess.) Paul D Walsh-Roberts’ From Atoms to Angels and Noam Chomsky’s Manufacturing Consent were the books that most impacted her and changed her.

Number Nine: Her House Was Robbed

Macpherson’s Notting Hill house was robbed in 2002. The burglars smashed the front door’s locks and evaded every security system installed in the house, taking money and photographs.

Number Eight: She Doesn’t Like Looking at Herself in the Mirror

Macpherson says it only takes her 10 minutes to get ready in the morning, and she barely looks at herself in the mirror, as focusing on her appearance makes her uncomfortable. She relies on sunglasses most of the time to go out so that she doesn’t need to spend a lot of time doing her make-up. “I don't do my hair and I only wear a tiny bit of blusher and lip gloss. I get my hair blow-dried a couple of times a week, but apart from that I just put it up in a ponytail.” Stay tuned for part two, coming

The turquoise stitching that runs up and down the sides of the boot fade to a brown as they reach the bottom from the many mud-wars and dirt they’ve encountered.
