The Electronic Privacy Information Center also known as EPIC was founded by David Banisar, Marc Rotenberg, and David Sobel founded in 1994. It is an independent non-profit research center based in Washington D.C. Their mission is to direct the public’s attention on developing human rights issues and privacy issues, along with that, they also work to protect our privacy and our right to freedom of speech. EPIC has been involved with several successful consumer privacy complaints with the US Federal Trade Commission, involving popular apps like Snapchat, WhatsApp, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Choicepoin.
