Another event that I chose to attend was an informational meeting for the UI Fusion Music Club, a club in which I am currently part of. Despite the misleading name, the UI Fusion music club is a not a club focused around the fusion genre of music. Instead it acts as a place where musicians from all over campus can come and jam with other musicians. Created by a student who had an idea to assemble musicians together for the sole purpose of creating a band, The UI fusion music club has over 60 members who gather every Saturday at a house and take turns jamming to every genre from blues to polka. The past couple times I attended the meetings I had a great time. The variety of musicianship is awesome and allows me as a guitar player to take a little bit from each individual’s style and incorporate into my own. I really enjoy participating in the endeavors of the club each week.…

At country concerts, people attend to get drunk with live background music. At a more local example, Country on the River, it is a known fact that drinking alcohol and partying is the only reason most people attend. Alternative fans have an actual appreciation for the music, what it means, and the people around them. Country fans…

What exactly is electronic dance music (EDM) some people say? Well, there are many different genres. We have dubstep, electro house, trap, hardstyle, glitch hop, and moombahton, just to name a few. Electro Dance Music is basically computerized sounds. EDM is constructed by means of electronic instruments such as synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers. All these instruments give EDM the cutting edge most other music genres don’t have, such as rap, hip hop, and opera. The thing with EDM is you either hate it, or you love it. Some people can’t enjoy the sounds of EDM, mainly because it is extremely loud, or it just doesn’t suit the person’s ears. What you will learn over the next couple years is that EDM is becoming more and more mainstream, especially in countries like America, and England.
