Electric Castle Festival Case Study
How can Electric Castle Festival target international market in terms of marketing and event experience?

Introduction
The Electric Castle Festival is the biggest music festival in Romania so far(http://www.electriccastle.ro/en/dailylineup). It takes place in the North-Western part of the country, on the outskirts of Cluj city (in Bontida commune)where the ruins of the Banffy Castle are situated. Cluj is considered a metropole, the third biggest city in Romania with a population of 500,000(out of which 100,000 are students from all over the country)(http://www.clujbusiness.ro/why-cluj/demographics/).
The main music played is electronic, as its name suggests, but as any other big music festivals it has multiple stages, for various kinds of

From their website we concluded that they have a capacity of 300,000 and all tickets were sold out(at the Untold), the line up is much better(in terms of artists’ popularity), the number of partners is much bigger, it is in the city center so it represents a huge competitor for the title of “biggest music festival in the country”.
At the same time, Electric Castle Festival is mostly attracting Romanian participants, the majority of them from or around the Cluj Napoca area. Being close to the Western border of the country (closer to Hungary or Serbia), the festival has a higher chance of attracting international participants as well as the capacity of accommodating a large number of participants.

Since the problem formulation focuses on how can the festival attract more international participants, from our perspective the organizers should focus their promotion towards the online users. Electric Castle Festival has a Facebook page in English, but it is not very elaborate. They mostly present the artists and bands, videos from the last edition of the festival and most of the people commenting are doing it in Romanian, which does not help potential international

In this next section S.W.O.T analysis will be used to analyze the festivals strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats which will provide the framework that the recommendations will be based upon. The festival has many strengths that have enabled its continued success since its infancy. The location for the festival alone is a great strength as it takes place within the popular Gros Morne National Park which provides a setting of amazing natural landscapes, and spectacular scenery for the event. It is apparent that the festivals majority of customers are locals from nearby communities, which is great as it shows the festival has the support of the nearby communities, and does not rely on visitors from afar or out of the providence. The strong focus on community can also be seen within the festival as there are various local artists, musicians, and writers showcased along with the numerous local programs and collaborations with local arts groups, including the: Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador, Gross Morne Summer Music Program, and school outreach programs.…

The five different locations that I observed were Forever 21, La Carreta, Miami Dade College, Santa’s Enchanted Forest, and Primera Iglesia Alianza Hispana. These venues aren’t all similar but, the one thing they have in common is they aren’t ashamed to express their style of music to the world. They all attract certain types of people to their locations like for example, La Carreta which is a Caribbean restaurant, here the audience they want to attract are mainly Hispanics and this because they mostly put on Latin music like bachata, Latin pop, and Mexican music. The difference between the venues is the purpose they serve, for example, Forever 21 is a clothing store for teenagers, Miami Dade College is a college campus, Santa’s Enchanted Forrest…

In addition, the festival pertained of people bringing in their classic cars to see which car was the best. What shocked me was that men worked months in order to prepare their cars for this festival. They had trophies for the best classic car contest up to 20th place so one can just imagine how many cars surrounded the festival. Also I had the opportunity to listen to live rock n roll music all day. There were different rock n roll bands alternating all day to get to hear a variety of rock n roll music. What I enjoyed most about the music was the fact that some members of the bands were playing unknown instruments to me that introduced me to new sounds and melodies. The bands were even selling their albums to the crowd in order to fundraise for the scholarship.…

In conclusion, the performance was long, but very entertaining. I enjoyed each piece because I hardly listen to that type of music. I enjoyed my time being there it was my first time experience anything like that. The songs I have never heard of, however, my favorite one would be the one that sounded like a jungle which was the third song 180(2015)-Michael Burritt(b.1962). If I would have to attend something like that again I would definitely consider it. I could now say that Percussion is my favorite…
