Elderly Patient Care Analysis

In this journal, five RNs use the nursing process to put together a care plan for an elderly patient. Pedro Ruymán Brito-Brito, Cristina Oter-Quintana, Ángel Martín-García, Mª Teresa Alcolea-Cosín, Susana Martín-Iglesias and Domingo Ángel Fernández-Gutiérrez are the RNs who have developed a care plan for Mr. A who has “urinary incontinence” and has developed “social interaction problems” after his “prostatectomy”. Mr. A is a retired 75 year old man who has developed a urine leakage problem due to having had a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy because he had prostate cancer. About two weeks after his surgery Mr. A noticed he was having this leakage problem, which also leads him to have social interaction problems. Mr. A seeks help at a community clinic and reports this problem to a community nurse office.
A’s catheter insurrection were removed. He began leaking urine when coughing, sneezing, walking and upon exertion.” Mr. A has leakage problems when trying to reach the bathroom in time. He says “the leakage is usually some drops.” Mr. A says that he uses about “three feminine pads a day to avoid getting wet.” This urinary problem interferes with his social life and has caused social interactions problems because he likes to invite his friends over. According to the journal “he used to have a group of friends which whom he organized tours, sightseeing or meals almost daily.” Mr. A is constantly on his feet and he has a really big fear of having urinary loss while he’s out around his group of friends. He says “I do not want to laugh or exert in case I may have a leakage.” This is a real big problem for Mr. A I can only imagine how hard this urinary problem has affected
