Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria was a colombain drug lord and leader of one of the most powerful criminal organizations ever assembled. Pablo controlled a vast empire of drugs and murders that covered the globe. Escobar had a way of dealing with his enemies : he called its “plata o plomo ,” literally , silver or lead. Pablo had ordered people to be hit and killed including families the exact number of honest men and women killed by is unknown, but it definitely goes well into the hundreds and perhaps into the thousands. I agree with El Chapo becoming a less powerful and influential person. He became sloppy and unfocused. In addition, with his bad demeanor and horrendous actions, he became a person whom shouldn’t have power, or even, respect. Some might object to what was said above, of course, on the grounds that El Chapo is still high with authority in Mexico and many places of the U.S. Yet I would argue that beyond those aspects, he isn’t careful anymore. Nor is he reflecting upon actions that were frowned upon. Overall I believe that El Chapo isn’t a person who should have authority nor is he a person that should be viewed highly on. He isn’t the same as before, being more reckless and careless—an important point given that he was once high and mighty,…

In the 1980s, Colombian Pablo Escobar formed one of the richest cartel in Colombia, the Medellin drug cartel. Pablo Escobar was the main exporter of cocaine all over the world. Mexico did not have any cartels at that time only Mexican smugglers, but the man who gave birth of all Mexican drug cartels was a former Mexican judicial federal police agent named Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo aka “the godfather” (wiki ,par.4) Miguel angel Felix Gallardo formed the very first cartel in Mexico, the Guadalajara cartel run by him his cronies and politicians who sold him protection and many family members. He controlled all the illegal drug trade in Mexico and the United States throughout the 1980s. He started off by smuggling marijuana and opium in the U.S and later became the main source for the Medellin cartel headed by Pablo Escobar. Then the birth to other cartels formed as Gallardo decided to divide different parts of Mexico drug trade to family drug lords to operate for him and for law enforcement agents less likely to bring down all the drug trade. It separated into three parts the Tijuana Cartel led by his nephews, the Arellano Felix brothers , the Gulf Cartel ,and the Sinaloa Cartel, run by former lieutenants Hector Luis Palma Salazar, Adrian Gomez Gonzalez and…

Although drug violence had been occurring since the 1980’s, the Mexican government held a generally passive stance towards cartels. That, however, changed with newly elected President Felipe Calderon, who vowed to relentlessly crack down on high profile drug kingpins. Calderon continued to escalate his striking anti-drug campaign throughout his presidential term. As of 2011, Mexican authorities and military forces have captured over 12.000 individuals who were suspected of being involved with cartels. Meanwhile the conflict began to spread to U.S. Border States, and therefore poses the greatest organized crime threat to the United States, according to the Justice Department. By now, cartels have infiltrated more than 200 major cities across the U.S. while American gangs increasingly act as enforcers for Mexican drug cartels. Mexico affects the United States unlike any other country, which is why Mexico’s state officials stressed that illegal drug trafficking is a shared problem not confined to national borders at all. This inevitably leads to the…

The following publication is rife with manipulation and corruption of Mexico 's highest regarded political positions and jurisdictions. Former Mexican President Miguel de la Madrid Hurtado officially declared drug trafficking a national security threat in early 1988. The United Nations estimate that 70% of the drugs flowing into the United States comes directly from Mexican drug trafficking cartels. Mexican cartels rely heavily on bribes and corruption as a means to infiltrate the Mexican political system. To the Mexican cartels, bribes and corruption is viewed as nothing more than, "the cost of doing business". A study by the National Autonomous University in Mexico City found that cocaine traffickers spend as much as 500 million a year on bribery. This calculates to almost $1,000 dollars in payoffs for each Kilo of smuggled cocaine. Mexico 's efforts of eradicating its deadly but lucrative drug industry have been severely bound by the rampant manipulation and corruption of the Mexican political system. A high level of corruption in Mexico remains as one of the most significant obstacles from eradicating the illicit drug trade operations and bringing a resolve to the ongoing drug war. As long as corruption continues to dominate the Municipal and Judicial systems of Mexico, it will remain a "failed state". And Mexico 's search of achieving a prosperous and stable democracy will continue to elude them.…
