Effects Of The Chicago Fire Of 1871
The Chicago Fire of 1871 happened on October 8th. This fire was different because it burned down a whole city. The fire was so large that it took two whole days to put it out. The fire had a lot of lasting effects. Some of these effects include damages, deaths, and life after the fire in Chicago.
There were about 300 deaths out of 300,000 people. There were 100,000 people were left homeless.the fire started at night and people were running out of there homes with the stuff they had grab on the way out.The second long lasting effect of the chicago fire were the damages that happen with the fire.
The fire caused $200 million in damages it destroyed 17,500 buildings,trees,bushes,73 miles of streets and sidewalks(the streets were made of wood)
