The Effects of Technology on Learning

Abstract:
Today our world is surrounded with some of the greatest pieces of technology that have ever been created. Technology has become one of the leading ways to enhance learning and make the classroom a more effective place. Each year policymakers are implanting new ways to better our education and through technology the accomplishments of our students will, in the future, will be far greater than we ever expected.

Hypothesis:
The use of technology in classrooms is spreading all over the world and the affects of it will only bring academic achievement to an all time high.

In my experiment I would use 3 groups of third graders from 3 different schools and test them over a period of ten years. The first classroom that I would study would go without the use of technology. They would only have the chalk board, flash cards, and things not ran electronically. My second classroom that I would study would be allowed to use technology but would be constantly monitored by an adult. The third class that I would study would be allowed to use any technology and have unlimited access.
I would break up the study into semesters therefore I could see if there was a change in the performance of the student. Each classroom would swap whether they had technology the previous semester and from this I would gather results and information on how technology based classrooms differ from those without technology. One thing that I would include in my study is special education studies. I would also like to see how they too are affected by technology in the classroom.
While doing the experiment I think that some problems that I may run into are: How the teacher allows the students to use technology in the classroom because each teacher is different in how they structure classroom activities. I think some positive potential findings would be that those using technology

Technology can be used in many ways and for many things. Computers in a classroom can be used in the classroom setting to start off the mornings. Computers are used all over the world and hold lots of information for many companies and small businesses as well. Because of the vast demand of technology in our world today, it is also important for us as teachers to have our students ready for this demand. Using technology in our classrooms is a great way of giving our students the incentive that they need to be comfortable with the use of technology. I will need to as the teacher really use my time wisely with…

My approach to teaching is simple, I want to teach my students material that are relevant, applicable and something that they can relate to. According to the video script of this week’s module, the purpose of technology is to enhance learning and engage students (Grand Canyon Univ., 2012). I couldn’t agree with this more, anything that is added to the curriculum should only be added to enrich it. I would use technology to reinforce what is being taught in class, as well as an outlet which students can begin to engage themselves in self-discovery. My mission is to create lifelong learners, and technology definitely will assist me in…

Technology has shown a potential to transform what and how students learn in and out of the classroom. Innovations in technology have already significantly transformed the way society conducts business, communicates, and operates on a daily basis. Businesses and people are continuously being trained and developed in new technologies so they can keep pace in this innovation-focused society. The social change we have experienced with the pervasion of the computer over the last few decades has put pressure on the educational system in our country. Using technology in primary classrooms by: Roseanne DePasquale, Erin McNamara, and Karen Murphy details how technology has definitely become a part of most children’s lives. Many school systems and child development programs have implemented technology into their programs as a learning tool. With the use of growing technology in classrooms many questions have arose. According to the article, “Visions of programmed instruction and electronic worksheets have caused teachers to fear that children will miss out on key experiences that support their development if computer technology infiltrates teaching.” I agree with this statement because students should have a balance between instructional patterns. In this article, I was introduced to some of the broader issues around using technology with young children. All three authors of this article gave great examples of how to integrate technology into lesson plans for young children in relation to science.…

Because technology is so advance, and our kids were born into a technology craze it is recommended that as adults we do some research on the effects these gadgets can have on our kids in the long run. For example if we allow Ipads in the class to teach our kids how to write what exactly are they learning? Because learning on a computer and learning from a teacher are two different styles of learning. Even though I am no expert when it comes to technology I have trouble learning when I have a…

Technology has greatly impacted daily lives and is used in almost every type of job, trainings, and schooling because all of them require some sort of technological device. By defining the advances in technology, the importance has allowed one to learn more. There is no doubt that technology has made its way into every part of our lives, but the question is, should technology lead the quest to better schools? By refuting counter arguments saying that technology is not useful, and by presenting the benefits of using technology in schools allows easier access to textbooks, promotes critical thinking, and will help them with future careers, one will be persuaded that technology leads the quest to better schools.…

It seems odd to me to write a paper about the importance of technology in education. While there may still be skeptics within the field of education, I would imagine that most people would agree that a technology rich environment enhances a child's education at least to some degree. Even teachers who are reluctant to infuse technology into their lesson plans would have to see the merit of students using technology consistently in classrooms. Most of the recent research articles I've read on technology and classroom learning conclude not only that there is an increase in student achievement in technology rich classroom environments, but also an increase in student motivation, especially among at risk students.…

Currently, research has stalled on furthering the knowledge held about technology in the classroom because there are many hard to control variables. For example, previous studies like the Shankar study were conducted to test the effects of social isolation rather than the root cause of this social isolation. Social isolation and loneliness affect most adults’ health and if it is found that technology in the classroom is a cause of social isolation, then the number of those affected will grow. Another example of the lack of research is evident in the area of teaching experiments. In detail, studies empahsize that teacher critique and demonstration is the best path to learning, but no studies speak of whether it matters if the teacher is human…

At this day in age, the use of technology has increased greatly. It is continuing to get more advanced day by day. For example, the first cell phones used to only be able to make calls, now they can take pictures and/or video, surf the web, and they even have voice control so that you don’t even have to use your hands! Using technology in classrooms can help engage students more, save paper, and help students find answers quicker and more efficiently; it is a very helpful asset and can make learning a more enjoyable experience for students.…

Education is one area that utilises technology in almost every field. Whether it be admin, presentations in class, research, or access to the best learning materials, it is all made easier with technology. It provides better communication between students and teachers helping to improve the quality of learning. There are even online classes and video lessons that are made available so people can study when and where it is suitable for them. This allows people to further their learning around their busy schedules and creates opportunity for those who might not be able to afford more expensive alternatives.…
