Effects Of Sildenafil
The Effects of Sildenafil on Plant Growth using Brassica rapa seeds

Introduction: Plant growth and development are affected by an overwhelming amount of factors in their environment but all these factors can be manipulated and given the perfect conditions the plant can grow to reach its peak size and potential. Rate of plant growth intrigued my fellow group members and I so it was decided that growth in mm as well as germination of the seed itself would be studied. With research being conducted into what we could change about the plants environment to change the rate of growth it was found that the simplest thing to manipulate would be the water the plant absorbed. Experiments such as this had been conducted before but most focused on adding

Rise and dry mortar and pestle. Second obtain the remaining two Viagra pills and repeat the first step emptying the mortar into a new quad. Rinse and dry mortar and pestle. Next add two hundred ml of water to each of the three quads, making one the control. Stir each with the scoopula for approximately one minute. After this, place the circular filter paper into each petri dish adding three seeds near the top of each dish. Using one quad for each petri dish only pour a small amount into each dish. This should be enough to dampen the filter paper but not completely soak it. Next, you are going to want to place the lid on each petri dish and using one piece of tape, tape the dish to keep it shut. Then pick up each petri dish and place them into the respective quad that you poured on the seeds earlier. Using the tape again you are going to tape the quads as to hold the petri dishes upright so that the liquid can flow into them appropriately. Next put all the dishes under the same light source so that growth can be stimulated. Finally leave the dish for two weeks and allow the seeds to germinate and grow coming back for measurements. After two weeks the length of each plant will be measured and recorded in …show more content…
If the hypothesis was supported then there would have been a more uniform growth rate with the control growing the least. Also, it is important to note that with the data collected figure 3 it is noted that the roots of the control plant are a great deal longer than either roots exposed to Viagra. This could be due to the absorption rate of water in the plant, the control needing more to carry out processes while the ones containing viagra needed less. Also the plant that grew the tallest had the shortest roots present (figure 1). If another experiment were to be done root length should also be taken into

Following the three week period, the number of seeds that germinated and the shoots mass were noted from each pot (Walsh and Walsh 2015). This process was conducted by cutting the end of the plant shoot and counting the number shoots which rose (Walsh and Walsh 2015). The shoots mass was noted by, compiling the shoots that were cut, using a digital weighting machine (Walsh and Walsh…

We experienced a number of errors in our experiment. Sources of error were human interaction, inaccurate measurements, and incorrectly handling the seeds and materials. In the future, these problems can be avoided by interfering with the plastic bags that contained the seeds, adding the most accurate amount of solute as possible, or making sure that we don’t crush the seeds or the towel that was inserted in the bag. Ideas for future experimentation would be to plant the seeds outside so that the sun would be used as the…

The results for the first fast plant grew taller by three centimeter or five centimeters each week. The number of leaves also increased each week by two to three leaves. Because of the more fertilizer added to a plant the fast plant grew taller and grew more numbers of leafs. The results for the second fast plant were very similar. The height of the plant had increased by three centimeter to five centimeters. The number of leaves also increased each week by two to three leaves. The last week…

We initially thought that the duckweed with less population density would have the larger growth rate, we in fact saw the opposite. The duckweed with the highest population density. The mean growth rate of the high density duckweed was the highest of the three, while the medium density duckweed had the second highest mean growth rate. The lowest density duckweed had a very small mean growth rate. It was interesting, some of the thali grew at large rates while others barely grew.…

For each treatment, we obtained two planting trays with cell flats- in which one corner cell was cut out to water the plants. We filled all cell flats with the fertilized soil and used forceps to place one seed with 3-4mm deep in the middle of each cell. After all trays of cells were planted, we brought these trays in a growth room and watered the plants. In the growth room, the amount of light, the temperature, and the humidity was kept the same for both control and experiment treatments. By using a ruler, we poured water into the trays up to 3 cm through the open-corner cells. We then watered the plants up to 1cm every Monday and Wednesday and up to 3cm every Friday. We also made a log of water that recorded who watered, how much water, and observations of the…

As shown in figure one you can see more plant growth associated with the control group. The average height in inches fluctuates with the treatment group. The control group has one peak at week three in average height, along with a peak at week 3 in the treatment group. The increased average growth seen in week 3 may be associated with a change in the environment, since a growth is seen in both the control and the treatment groups.…

Seed germination is very important to distribute the population of the plant. The seed of N.cadamba is minute, trigonal or irregularly shaped. The fruits are a small capsule, packed closely together to form a fleshy, yellow and variety of colours containing approximately 8000 seeds (Ivy, 2011). The seeds are considered mature when the fruit has changed colour to dark brown. In forest plantation, human will provide a favourable condition for the seed to make sure the seed germinate and grow. According to Joker (2000) stated that the seeds should be stored in dry, airtight container as this will allow the seeds to retain viability for up to two years while at ambient temperature up to six months. Besides, the seed can be also dispersed by using the pollinator agents and the weather may affect the germination of seed. It is a flexible and fast-growing plantation tree species as it can be grown best on deep, moist, alluvial sites and regularly flooded areas. The most important circumstance for the optimized growth of this tree is the presence of light. The maximum temperature varies from 32 °C to 42 °C whereas the minimum temperature varies from 3 °C to 15.5 °C in its natural habitat. Apart from that, the growing ranges of the mean annual rainfall lie between 1500 mm to 5000 mm whereas the altitude range for growing lies between 300 m and 800 m above sea level. In addition, it can grow…
