Effects of Mass Media Worksheet
Learning Styles and Effective Study Habits
I am certainly Musical/Rhythm, Intrapersonal, and Intrapersonal when it comes to my study habits. Also, I prefer being alone and in a quiet space when I study. I can concentrate better and in a more effective way than if I'm in a group setting. There are many great tips on enhancing my study time. A few of them I already use such as listening to music while I study I found it to be soothing and it allows me to be focused and have clarity.
The study strategies and techniques I will use during this course to increase my effectiveness is I have to print out the syllabus and if I can't get to my moms to print of the syllabus for that week I save it to my nook. So I can read the nook and be online ecampus on my laptop. I also do my homework with my children, I have learned that if I sit down and do some homework after school while my boys is doing their homework it not only sets a good example for my boys its also keeping me organized and setting a schedule. So its setting a schedule that helps. I have a dry erase board calendar that hangs up in my kitchen also with reminders. I also make sure that I am quiet environment to study and do assignments.
The link between my learning style and effective study, I am trying to get myself setup with an actual schedule to check into classes I got set days that I log in but I need to work on a specific time schedule.I print my syllabus off weekly because it is the road map for the entire course and it will help keep me on track with what assignments are due and when. Another strategy I have is effective time-management skills. I have to set time aside for school, personal, and work schedules. I am working on having appropriate communication skills and reading and writing skills. A good study environment is very beneficial to allow me to focus and concentrate. And last but not least motivation, independence, and the drive to achieve my goal.

Finding time to study is tough, with a twenty-month old running around. I wish I could freeze time and just play with him! Sometimes, it is so hard to focus and I lose my time to study. I have started going other places to study. I am taking my teachers’ advice and picking up my books and going to the library, or I will lock myself in my room and turn on the television to drown out the noise of everyone around me. So far it has worked. I hope it continues.…

Some of our learning style may be inherited. That is we are born with certain traits that affect how we learn. Learning styles are therefore very unique to each individual and as is also the case with myself. As a student in India I was used to studying in a structured environment and values were instilled by my parents, teachers and peers to study with high motivation and persistence. Bright light and formal classroom setting were the environmental factors that I was used to. I think this is mainly because I grew up in a tropical climate. For this reason I have a hard time studying in the winter season. Also I need a quiet environment to learn and do not like to be disturbed when I am learning.…

Now I know that those may be helpful at least to some extent, but there are many other ways to study too. Hopefully, some of the new skills I have learned will help me to get a better grade. Some of the study skills I have learned include finding a study partner, which I have done. She is also part of a larger study group, which she invited me to attend once. I thought it was somewhat helpful, but they were studying for different classes than I had. They were really nice and tried to help me though. Having all the different perspectives helped me to understand the essay I was writing in one of my classes better. I also learned to organize my notes better and to take care of all of my obligations before I start studying so I can focus on the schoolwork instead of the laundry. Finally, I have tried some of the clever ways to improve my memory like mnemonics and rapping. I am not sure that they worked, but I will give them another try…
