I would like to thank Prof. D. I. Cabral for providing me an opportunity to learn more about the two factor theory. This project gave me an opportunity to visit an organization and to interact with people.

A special thanks to Mr. Subramanian Kumarappan [Manager (Client Reporting), Oracle Financial Software Solution Limited] for allowing me to visit their premises and helping me to complete this project successfully.

I would also like to thank Mr. Hitesh Vora and other people at Oracle Processing Services Limited who were very helpful and friendly and helped me in every possible way in completing the study on the two factor theory.

Last but not least, I would like to thank all those who were indirectly involved in this project and have helped me in completing this project.


Performance appraisal has been defined as formal review process is designed to work with and encourage the informal day to day practice of performance management, while providing a framework in support of salary adjustments, promotion and employment decisions. The main purpose of performance appraisal is:

To monitor the improve performance of an employees and to identify training needs.

It’s a tool which is used to measure any personal traits which are positively correlated with job performance but may be difficult to measure.

The research was undertaken to understand the various factors influencing the effectiveness of employee’s performance appraisal.

Study was done to understand as to what type of performance appraisal system is used by an organisation to evaluate the performance of employees. The study purposes and tests the effectiveness of a performance appraisal system in an organisation i.e. how effective the performance appraisal system is towards giving the feedback to the employees about their performance in the organisation and rewards for their performance.


Is the performance system which is followed in this organization effective or it’s ineffective and employees treat it as just another activity in the office. This was studied under some hypothesis.
