1) I think that there a difference between effective managers and effective leaders. An effective manager has to perform their responsibilities successfully, this doesn’t mean that they are and effective leader. Effective leaders motivate and lead people with a clear vision and inspire their followers. Effective managers have the opportunity to be effective leaders as well, however this is not always the case. Effective management means to complete the tasks given to you by your superiors, by delegating the tasks to the people you manage. Management strategies and operations are like an assembly line. You could write a manual on duties or tasks that need to be performed in order for the firm to function. Effective leaders think out of the box, take risks, inspire, motivate, and lead by example.

2) I think that the majority of managers aren’t transformational leaders. Transformational leaders generate excitement and motivate people to transcend their personal interests for the good of the group. Managers tend to be more structured seeking quick opportunity and rewards within the firms structure. I believe that most managers are transactional leaders that use their power to reward and punish subordinates. They are more monitors oppose the motivators. However, I do think that most managers circumstantially can be transformational leaders at one point or another; Although it is not their natural way of conducting management tasks.

4) I think courage means the power within your soul to do the right thing and listen to your conscious. It takes courage to do what is right. It is easier for people to look away or not do what is honorable, because it might jeopardize their current situation. I think courage is the ability to act rightly in the face of popular opposition. I would also define courage as the ability to confront fear/pain, both mental and physical. I think to be an effective leader you must
