This paper will discuss workplace trends within and outside health care that require employees to connect with an ever-widening array of coworkers, consultants, off-site employees, and other resources. The reader will be informed of effective and ineffective ways for sharing information and techniques that can be applied or modified in a healthcare work environment; and ways in which technology plays a large role in effective healthcare communication. Effective communication is a process of delivering information by means of verbal and non-verbal communication, and immaculate listening skills. Communication is key to an organization it allows information to be transferred to person to person in efforts to relay a message. The sender must be able to relay the message clearly to ensure the receiver interpret the message correctly. The same concept is needed when working in a team environment. Co-workers must communicate effectively in order for there to be respect and moral in the work environment. A team can cause communication to be ineffective due to the lack of cultural backgrounds and differences in thought processes. In a team each individual plays a part and must assume responsibility for their own actions in order to accomplish the team objective and meet team goals. When team members fail to be supportive of team decisions and cannot not respect the ideas or opinions of other team members communication becomes ineffective.
