Task B M1: Assess the factors that may prevent or enhance communication in health and social care. You need to briefly mention the theories of communication.
Theories: communication involves a two way process in which they try to understand the point they are getting across. This is called the commination cycle in which two people communicate. They check there ideas have been understood and processed a good form of communication involves checking, understanding and listening. Michael Argyle (1972) said that communication is like skill. An example would be learning drive or playing a musical instrument depending on the process. When learning to drive your whole behaviour changes around you in and out of the car. It involves a cycle of watching and observing, watching and listening. Argyle believed that skilled interpersonal interaction (social skills) involves a cycle in which you have to translate what others are communicating and constantly adopted your whole behaviour effectively to communicate. You haft to work out what their behaviour really means in the communication cycle. Verbal and non-verbal isn’t always straightforward as it seems.
