A leisure education program will best suit the group goals and reinforce the AA 12 step program this mental health facility incorporates into their philosophy. The Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) 12 Step program “is concerned solely with the personal recovery and continued sobriety of individual alcoholics who turn to the Fellowship for help” (What is AA, 2016). From this philosophy, leisure education sessions with a CTRS will play a very important role in personal recovery and sobriety. “Recreational therapists assist in structuring free time through leisure education and community resource awareness for the identification of appropriate activities” (Thomas, TR Services for Substance Abuse). Another important role by the CTRS that will be highlighted…

I had the pleasure of visiting The Miami Art Museum and was very impressed by what I encountered and viewed. I have never found interest in art until I got to see the museum. Throughout my exploration at the Miami Art Museum I was able to view a wide selection of art. In this venture, I viewed the most beautiful artwork I had ever seen, observed interesting non European/North American art, was alarmed by the most disturbing works , explored a breath taking exhibition, and actually found work that I would actually take home with me.…

‘Education for leisure’ was written in the 1980s by carol Anne Duffy during the time when Margaret Thatcher was the prime minister of Great Britain. The aims that were pursued by her government were to encourage an individual pursuit of wealth, very much a capitalist aim. The country’s economics were not in a great state during this time. Especially the more underprivileged parts of the country did not fare well under her government. The schools faced severe cuts to their budgets which was mainly due to the expenses of the Falklands war. These budget cuts meant that the children were not granted the best of educations. This poem would seem to be a direct criticism of the government at the time by Carol Anne Duffy. This is not the only poem that she gives direct criticism towards government especially that of Margaret Thatcher’s.…

My museum visit took place at the Michael Carlos Museum in Atlanta on the Emory University campus. The building in which the art was kept was quite special in detail and character. The art on exhibit there that of Southeast’s most distinguished collection of art and artifacts from ancient Egypt, Nubia, Greece, Rome, the Near East, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The art on display had a way of allowing me to take a moment to reflect on the time in a world that was ruled by many emperors, kings, and pharaohs. The museum was a safe haven for housing art and historical facts of the many cultures all around the world.…

Macau has developed its tourism sector when there was a rapid growth on the gaming industry since the 70s. However, there is no longer a comprehensive tourism planning at that time. It was until 1980s, the Portuguese government has tried to preserve the cultural influence over Macau after 1999. By preserving the mixture of Eastern and Western cultures in Macau, it paved the way for the development of cultural tourism in Macau. Nowadays, the development of cultural heritage tourism is significantly successful. The culture of Macau is not merely gaming but the East-West cultural pluralism. Its successfulness in preserving the cultural heritage can be clearly shown when Macao’s Heritage (“The Historic Centre of Macao”) has features on World Heritage List in 2005. This highly facilitated the development of Macau’s Cultural Heritage Tourism. In this report, the development and management of Macau’s cultural heritage tourism will be examined.…
