Ecstasy: A Narrative Fiction
It worked; Luc was entering the cave when he heard a soft whimpering coming from the corner. Luc bent down so not to appear immense and threatening. “Don’t cry puppy I have come back for you.” The puppy only weighted maybe 25lbs, but the shock of her jumping on him startled him and he fell back on his butt. She started licking his face and wagging her tail. Luc lifted her up and sat her down next to him, “Phase, we need to talk.” The pup phased to a girl and sat next to Luc, he noticed her clothes torn and dirty. Her appearance made him want to cry. She needed a shower and clean clothes. “First we need to get you into my bedroom to shower and find you some clean clothes.” She looked down at her clothes and felt shame at her appearance. She had always wondered what it would be like to dress as the humans did, of course, by the time the wolves were done with the humans their clothes were no more. “What is your name?” “Demi, it means half, my mother propagated with a dog and I’m the result of her experiment. Half wolf, half dog.” She hung her head as if she were ashamed. Luc whispered, “I like both …show more content…
They all ate in silence, thinking, each with their own worries. Luc grasped this was going to be the longest night of his life, he was already missing Demi. Shimmer stood and plucked the car keys from the hook they hung on announcing, “I’m driving.” Lexi yelled, “Shot gun.” Luc was so lost in thought he didn’t notice that they were all staring at him. Being the light-hearted, carefree one in the group, without a comeback or laugh made them all worry. Lexi hugged her brother and asked, “What is wrong?” Luc smiled, “I’m wondering if joining the football team is really a good idea, I ran down and signed up for tryouts this evening before everyone got up.” He had actually stopped by on his way to get Demi, and signed the tryout sheet, then ran out so fast no one knew he was

When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. Not realizing that only half of the school day had passed, I sat in the school parking lot for two hours. I had planned on grading essays on a play we’d just read in my english class, but I couldn’t bring myself to do any thing but think of Gene. Finally, Summer, my six year old daughter and Finny, my eight year old son came to the car. This should cover it.” and handed us two crisp dollar bills. We got the skittles and returned to our seats. Lexi took the shiny change, jiggled it in her hands and put it back into her wallet. “ Do you wanna come with us back in the locker room with us, Lexi?”, Chase asked. “No thanks.”, Lexi replied most likely because of the group of teenage boys that seemed “too cool for school” who strolled in way too late. Chase ignored them and jumped down step to step, somewhat in a hurry. I followed her down into the locker room running my fingers across the braille once more. The locker room was in some way a mysterious place full of wonders eight year olds never knew existed. We played childish games throughout the locker room. Whenever someone came in we pretended we were washing our hands, holding back laughter. Around the beginning of the fourth quarter, Chase and I started playing truth or dare. “ Charlie, I dare you to get in one of the lockers.” I got up fearlessly, opened a locker, and got in…

Everything seemed wrong from the very start. First of all, he began his day late as he woke up late for school that day. So here he was, chasing after the bus which already on its way with its loyal morning passenger all aboard. Ian knew that it was a futile attempt because once the bus had moved away from the bus stop; there was no way to stop it. He plopped down lazily on his buttock on the cold chair in the bus stop. His stomach was grumbling because he missed his breakfast as a result of waking up late. His mother won’t let him have even just a small bite of those delicious home-made pancakes of hers. Ian glanced down at his red wristwatch, it read 8.01am. Sighing out of frustration, he decided that it would be best if he started walking to school. As he walked, he muttered some incoherent curse words under his breath, unaware of the presence of a large, black dog creeping up…
