1. What issues have you and your team had regarding diagnostic concerns related to definitions of emotional disabilities and challenges of providing services to students with EBD? Both teachers noted that if a general education student has a sudden crisis in their life, i.e., their parents’ divorce, and they begin to display unwanted behaviors this is not an EBD. It is a situational “short term” problem. A student with EBD has behavioral problems no matter what is going on in their life. They have had numerous interventions tried to correct the behavior. Their EBD is not situational, it is part of their life. The biggest issue that Mrs. Fairchild-Romero had was that the process to determine if a student has and EBD is that is quite lengthy.
