Most of us are. Today I will discuss ways you can incorporate healthy eating into your lifestyle even if you are always on the go. There is no excuse for skipping breakfast! It’s one of the fastest and easiest meals we can have, and one of the best changes you can make. A high fiber breakfast will give you longer lasting energy; boost your long term health; and help keep you regular. Boost the fiber content of your breakfast by including foods such as wholegrain bread, high fiber cereal, fresh fruit, nuts, seeds. Having something for breakfast is better than having nothing at all. If you struggle to squeeze in a proper breakfast, pack a portable breakfast to have on your way to work or once you arrive at work. Healthy options include breakfast bars, yogurt, fruit, breakfast drinks, fruit bread or a low-fat bran muffin.
We are urged to eat a variety of foods; to balance the food we eat with physical activity in order to maintain or improve our weight; to choose a diet with plenty of grain products, vegetables, and fruits; to limit consumption of fats, sugars, and salts; and to drink alcoholic beverages in moderation. According to Sally-Anne Livock, an Accredited Practising Dietitian and director of Sunshine Coast Dietetics, notes, “If you want to stay well and have the energy for your busy life, then nutrition needs to be a

A lot of college students are prone to skipping breakfast for a multitude of reasons. Many believe that breakfast can be a pointless meal and it is simply a waste of time at the beginning of their day. However, breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day by doctors all over the world. Breakfast is the first time your body consumes food (and therefore secretes energy) during the day. Likewise, eating even a smaller breakfast (i.e. a cup of orange juice and a thing of yogurt) will help kick start your metabolism for the day and get you going on the right track. Those who skip breakfast frequently are more prone to becoming overweight according to Joan Salge Blake, R.D., spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and clinical associate professor at Boston University. Skipping breakfast teases the brain into craving higher calorie meals later in the day. Thus, leading to weight gain.…

Do you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? A good breakfast provides the nutrients that people need to start their day off right. Studies show that children who eat a good breakfast do better in school than children who do not. Studies also show a link between participation in the School Breakfast Program and improved academic performance and psycholsocial behavior. Children who eat a good breakfast tend to perform better in school, and have a better attendance and decreased hyperactivity. Children who don't eat breakfast tend to perform not as well, and also tend to have behavior problems such as fighting, stealing, and not listening to their teachers (Dr. Ronald Kleinman, Harvard Medical School). The School Breakfast Program provides a nutritious meal to children who might otherwise not eat breakfast, and is designed to provide children with one-fourth of their daily nutrients. This program offers fruit, cold cereal and milk daily, and some Coldwater Schools buildings also offer a variety of hot dishes like breakfast pizza, pancake wraps, and oatmeal.
