Eating disorders: Bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa
Eating disorders are the new diseases that emerge in the last 20 years. People who have eating disorders often have an abnormal eating habit that affects their physical and mental health. Eating disorders attacks female more frequently. And most of the sufferers are between 12 to 25 years old. In general, people who are clever, charming, conscientious, and hardworking are more likely to develop eating disorders. Many factors can lead to eating disorders occur. However, there is a similarity—the sufferers have had dieting. There are two major eating disorders; bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa, which both cause malnutrition. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder. The patients are fear of gaining weight and trying to decrease their body weight continuously. Also, the patients have a distorted body self-perception. Because patients are fear of gaining weight, they will try to use fasting, vomit, laxatives drugs, physical exercise method to lose weight. They will think themselves to be fat even when they are extremely emaciated. The average age of morbidity of anorexia nervosa is 17 years old. The disorder mainly exists in the developed countries or the city area in developing countries. Most of the patients are female, female patients are ten times more than male patients, especially in teenage girls and young women. Anorexia nervosa causes are often accompanied with stressful events such as suddenly take responsibility, away from home to the university, graduation and employment, etc. The etiology of the disorder is not clear.
