Life Purpose

Nearing the end of my road to the Eagle Scout award I am finding that my purpose in life is becoming more clear. Through scouts and the other activities that I have surrounded myself with, I have come to realize that I want to be a leader. In the leadership positions I have held I have picked up so many skills that I am going to use in my life. I don’t just want to be one type of leader though. I would like to be a leader in the workplace, morally, and within my family. It only seems right to keep my life going in that direction. I plan on going to college this summer to study public relations and marketing as USF or FSU. Beyond that I’d then like to move out of Florida for my masters and get a job in a city like Chicago. Ideally I would like to have a job within a magazine or a music agency searching for ways to sell certain brands or ideas, and finding ways to promote those things. Something very important to me in my life is service and that is why throughout my life I also plan to remain involved in the act of helping others in need. Throughout high school I have belonged to a youth group that’s has gone a mission trip every summer, and on these trips I have had some of the most meaningful experiences of my life which have really made me realize how good my life is, and how important it is to share your talents, abilities, and time with others who may not be as fortunate as yourself. While I may sound very certain of myself and the upcoming future, I am very open to new possibilities and options that may come my way. So whether I stick to the plan I have made myself of end up somewhere completely different in life, I will use the talents and skills I have gained from scouts to be

would be coming over soon. I was getting nervous. This operation would be happening all from my garage. My fellow boy scouts would come excited and willing to help me out. As soon as people started arriving I maintained a calm state. I tried to stay professional and give them useful tips on how to collect the books. Overall just about 20 people came to help me out in my eagle scout project, which was a lot more than I needed as I…

Journey Towards Clarity Sitting in the church pew as an Eagle Scout, listening to my Scoutmaster and other adult leaders extol my virtues was a surreal experience. How did I get here? It felt like they were talking about someone else. It seemed like just yesterday I was painting my Pine Wood Derby Car and preparing for the biggest race in Cub Scouting. I organized a group of fellow scouts to build a magnificent 20-foot bridge for my Eagle Project, which in hindsight was easy. I loved building…

kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. The twelve fundamental adjectives of the Scout Law can often be obscured by the daily perils of life, yet I held on to these values as they echoed through my conscience. Yes, I am a Scout, an Eagle Scout. I wear this accomplishment proudly, like a shimmering gold trophy that will never rust. It comes from a profound sense of purpose. It characterizes who I am and who I can become; however, this dignity did not surface overnight. My journey…

Personally, I have been involved in my community since I was in the Boy Scouts of America. As I acsended through to the top rank of Boy Scouts known as an Eagle Scout, many projects were conducted. For example, I have planned and conducted my own Eagle Scout project in 2009; this project consisted of building a roof for my local firehouse. Other community service includes roadside clean-ups, annual earth day events, and fellow Eagle Scout projects. Since my community college career, I have been well involved…
