Eachna Monologue
In the midst of a forest grew an oak tree, and in the midst of the oak tree was a very tiny opening where a beautiful faerie named Eachna lived. Her eyes were the colour of periwinkles, and she was so small no adult human could see her.
Each day Eachna would play a game where she would fly from flower to flower counting them. One day she was having such a wonderful time counting she completely lost track of where the sun was and soon it became dark.
“Oh no!” she hurriedly thought. “I have lost my way!” How would she get back to her oak tree and sleep for the night?

Oh, I cannot bear the thought of being apart from you!” She laid her head on him crying quite inconsolably.
The young man reached behind him and searched for a honeysuckle to give in the hopes of cheering her. There were red, blue and white flowers, all equally beautiful, but one stood out more from all the others. It was practically glowing! That’s the one he thought and plucked it.
“OH!” Eachna was startled, for that was the very flower she had taken refuge in, and tumbled out onto a dry leaf.
“You are right – we shall both die without each other. I will tell your Mother I am leaving, but we will sneak away and be married.”
Eachna suddenly felt herself lifted in the dry leaf. There was a rather nasty man also in the bushes hiding and spying on the young lovers. The leaf became attached to his wet boot, and soon it was running as fast as the wind.
“Oh dear! What will become of me?” Eachna cried as she hung on tightly.
The spy had run to the Mother’s house to tell her of the lovers’ secret.
“Then I shall have both killed.” The Mother said.
With this Eachna flew back to the young woman who had fallen asleep on the bench, and whispered in her dreams what she
