Dwight Moody Character
"Character is what you are in the dark." by Dwight Lyman Moody is a quote. What It means is that when someone is alone they tend to be who they really are and they show there true colors. Showing someones true color means that they are who they really are and when they are alone they tend to either be a good or a bad person. A lot of people who are good people tend to be afraid to show who they really are to others because they may be afraid of what to others might think of them.Another reason that people may be afraid to show there true colors to others could be because they think that they are weird and crazy a good kind of crazy though and they are afraid that someone might make fun of them for being different. Those are some of the reasons …show more content…
People care too much about what others think of them instead of them not caring and just being happy they would rather just hide there natural selves away and just show it when they are alone. When people start to pretend to be someone they are not soon enough they actually become that person. And they start to loose the person they once where. So in my opinion I think that people shouldn't hide who they really are and just be happy because in life your going to get judged on everything you do so just ignore what everyone else thinks and just do you because its your life not theres. Nobody is perfect not one person can say that they are or that they have never made a mistake.

In conclusion those are just some of the reasons that I believe people tend to hide there true

JoAnn Deak, Ph.D., psychologist and author of How Girls Thrive and Girls Will Be Girls: Raising Confident and Courageous Daughters, refers to this time in a girl’s life as “camouflaging.” It’s exactly what it sounds like. A girl will hide in plain sight by blending in with those around her. And, like with any good camouflage, she renders her true self invisible. As Dr. Deak tells us, camouflaging isn’t all bad. It can provide “an opportunity for self-discovery and growth.” But, the cost is higher than any tween can imagine. Dr. Deak says a girl who buries her authentic self will “hide herself not only from others, but ultimately from herself”. She doesn't realize what she's giving up because, well, she's hiding…

Some people’s are larger and more prominent than others, but one wants to own up to their inner evils because that’s human nature. Everyone wants to be seen as an innocent person, not someone who has all this inner evil or sin hidden inside them. I believe that our current society has a lot of impact on that. No one has the courage to be their true selves anymore because they feel like they have too much pressure from society and social media to be a perfect, model being. Sadly, there are many people who try to be true to themselves and are bullied or looked down upon because of it , yet on the other side of the spectrum, there are people who hide the real them for so long that they get so caught up in it and can never act like who they truly are on the inside anymore. Yes, everyone has their own hidden secrets, but to be true to themselves and own up to it, they need to accept it in their own hearts and no longer hide behind their own black…

To be honest, everyone shows and has shown different sides of themselves towards different people. When people are around old relatives or parents, they tend to be in their best behaviours and pay extra attention towards the actions and words that they use around them, showcasing the best side(s) of themselves. Then when they are out with friends or a group of people they feel comfortable with, a more outgoing or fun side is shown that sometimes gets them in hot water due to their word choice or actions. So why is it that people show different sides of themselves depending on the people that they are with in that moment? Well a certain girl named Sharbelle Torres, is also guilty of this act. Many would describe Sharbelle as someone who is calm or well-behaved and does what is expected of her, when it is expected to be done. Her friends on the other hand would describe her as someone who is both careful and outgoing (weird right, those two qualities do not go together). Unfortunately, Sharbelle has a hidden side that she does not show or talk about very often to others. Secretive is a trait that best concludes Sharbelle’s colourful,…

I can directly relate with this quote, I’m sure quite a few people can. So often, we act differently in private than we do with others. Of course, it’s all dependent upon who the ‘others’ are. For example, we may feel more comfortable being our true selves with our friends and become more reserved with colleagues. This is not necessarily how all humans behave, some folks have no problem being exactly who they are at all times no matter whose company they are in. I admire this quality when it is not coming from someone I perceive as obnoxious. Certainly, factors such as perception, culture, and the people we are communicating with will influence how we behave in public as opposed to private.…

Character is the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character”. What would happen in the world if people were judged by what is on the inside and not what you see? People would have to take the time to get to know people before they could conclude anything about them, and maybe if compassion was the driving force in the world, people would be more accepting and loving. Instead of labeling people, the world would be a much better place if we approached others with compassion and a sense of justice about their character and not how they physically look.…

People have always done certain things to become recognized by a group or by an individual; which could lead to the possibility of bad actions. Acceptance and recognition is what we all strive for because no one likes being left out or an outcast. In my personal opinion I think it has a lot to deal with a sense of low self esteem. A person that has better self esteem and self worth, they possess a greater chance in that they do not feel or think they need to fit in or do what everyone else is doing. Those types of people are what I consider at one with who they are and do not feel it necessary to act out, follow the in crowd or any other thing to be accepted.…

Its easier said than done, being completely myself I mean. The world expects me to be myself and to not bother worrying about what others think, but at the same time they want to judge me for every single thing I do. I will never feel like I can dress exactly the way I want, act the way I want, or be the way I want without someone having something negative to say about it. That’s the way society is and I have to either be myself or drive myself crazy trying to be perfect. I envy the girls that can be themselves without being concerned with what someone else is going to think, because I can’t put on an outfit in the morning without that crossing my mind.…

Everyone was born to be themselves, they have their own feelings, looks, and beliefs. Therefore, an individual should not change themselves for anyone. To be part of a group, the group should accept them for who they are. The characters in the stories and movies "The Sociology of Leopard Man," "Two Kinds," and Dead Poets Society agreed that they would not change themselves in order to blend in with other people. Someone once mentioned "If you cannot change the world, then change your world." Sometimes, to communicate with others or groups, it is a good idea for individuals to change themselves a little bit to fit with everyone else when necessary.…

Appearances are but a mask, one which is crafted and molded to our benefit. This is true in everyday eventualities from applying for a job to even hypothetical scenarios such as the apocalypse where survival is a matter of not letting others know your weaknesses. For instance the writers of the series Quarantine have adroitly layered out a story filled with half-truths and deceit, but also filled with an honest disposition of the characters trying to survive at all costs. This is especially true the sequel to Quarantine: The Loners.…

The first reason is that people are selfish. All selfish people display a very uncaring attitude and a strong “Me first” trait. The extremely selfish person will not hesitate to depict other people in dark colors in order to present his personal picture in a bright shade by way of contrast. This is one facet of selfishness. Selfish people begin to ignore the rights of others. In other words people become very in considerate of their fellow-beings. Folks try to make their own life happy and comfortable one.…

Everyone, no matter who you are or how perfect you think you may be, lie on a daily basis. We all tell lies whether it’s to protect someone’s feelings or oneself. Lying on a justified standard can be the dark secrets we all tend to keep from one another. Everyone has them, so we keep telling these lies to not only ourselves, but our friends and loved ones as well. If we were ever to tell these secrets to one another, there would be no pride left in us, so we cover up these shameful acts with lies. Ericcson, a writer who wrote “The Ways We Lie”, talked about different categories of lying that included facades. Facades can be the masks we put on to hide the truth, being said that, Alcoholism and Drug abuse are the depth and most common of having these dark secrets that would be considered a justified lie in my perspective.…
